My wife and our friends toured Napa Valley, Monterey and San Fran and stayed at the Spindrift Inn for 3 fabulous nights. By far, it was the best hotel we stayed at. We were greeted by a friendly staff every time we passed through the lobby. Happy hour with endless wine, cheese and fruit was every night for 90 minutes. You may venture up to the roof to watch the sunset or just view the ocean. The assistant manager came up to take our picture and chat with us.

The rooms have fireplaces and there is plenty of wood. The beds are featherbeds and you just melt into them. Breakfast is included and it is not skimpy. Order what you want and the time you want it delivered to your room.

The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the aquarium and you will pass by all kinds of shopping and restaurants. If you are financially conscious, you can park in other lots and save a few bucks. Otherwise the hotel will valet park for you.

I would recommend this hotel and stay there again.

Room Tip: Ocean view is 30% more.

My husband and I spent our 48th anniversary at the warm and inviting Spindrift. The check in made me feel welcome from the moment I stepped in to the lobby. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. We were a corner room with a fireplace, beautiful view and a large cozy bed. They have complementary room service breakfast every morning and wine and cheese in the afternoons. This could be why it is voted # 1 for romance and we couldn't agree more. We watched the seals and birds in the bay and on the beach from our window. They don' t have a dining room but the Italian restaurant next door is very good and there are several dining options in walking distance. You can also walk to shops and the aquarium. Thanks for a great anniversary.

Room Tip: The bay view rooms & are superior

We come here every spring and fall. This is our favorite hotel in Monterey and we wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else. From the moment we get up to our room until we regretfully have to leave, this place is like home to us. Really, I'd rather tell you it's terrible so that I never have to worry about getting our special room. Stay away, please.

Room Tip: No, I won't tell you because I want it all to myself.

From the time we drove up to the time we left, your staff made us feel special! The room was cozy and beautiful. The staff was warm and very helpfull. We loved the wine and cheese reception where we met other travelers. If we knew the place was this nice, we would have stayed more than one night.

Not our typical type of stay—nestled tightly in a bustling town--the famous Cannery Row. However, this little gem was so cozy and was the best sleeping experience we had the whole week. I would 100% recommend the ocean front rooms, i believe the town facing rooms would be noisy with an open window--which we so enjoyed. The beach below the room is public, and can be a little noisy too--my husband asked for quiet once to some loud kids!

We stayed 2 nights in an oceanfront room. It was so oceanfront; the water practically touched the building. From our room we saw lots of harbor seals and a few dolphins. Amazing.

We enjoyed the wine & cheese happy hour and the free continental breakfast delivered to the room. It was varied to suit many tastes with your choice of fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, etc.

There is no restaurant, but many choices are within walking distance. The Chart House was the best, I'd say. We didn't love the restaurant which was right next door.

Each night and morning, we lit a wood burning fire in the room, had the ocean sounds coming through the open window, and listened to a Deep Sleep CD they provide in the room at bedtime. It was heaven. The overstuffed chairs invite you to sit and linger in front of the fire as well. Coffee maker in the room, which I always love.

We walked down the paved trail, which is nearby also, to some very scenic outcroppings where we rented a surrey that we pedaled in to both ends of the trail—as far as was allowed.

We loved the town of carmel better, but didn't see a better place to stay there. We felt we did it just right and got lucky with our choice.

Room Tip: Ocean view would be WELL worth it, believe me!

Courteous front desk clerks, expedient turn down service, unforgettable ocean view from suite, nice breakfast, designer's delight with selection of furniture, finishes, and bedding fabrics, clean, very nice. Just one Oops: the valet was extremely slow or unaware of our place in line.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for oceanside. What's the point of going to Monterey if you can't see...

The Spindrift Inn was a pleasant, peaceful and comfortable place to stay. Home away from home. Everyone treated us so nicely and they were so friendly and helpful. The ocean view is amazing and nice touch with having the binoculars in the room. Beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was just perfect. It is a great place to stay!
