In a world of chain hotels that you can recognize from half a mile away by their signs, this is a gem. We stayed here twenty-five years ago on our honeymoon and loved the setting (Monterey), the room (hardwood floors and a window seat), and the bed (a great down duvet that forever changed my view of comfort). The staff is wonderful and inviting. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here for just one night in early July. Wish we had more time! It was elegant! Breakfast delivered to our room on a silver tray. Our room had a balcony overlooking Cannery Row, fireplace, comfy king bed, refrig, Keurig--all the conveniences needed for travel. Convenient location, never needed to take the car out. Staff was warm and welcoming, especially the "welcome home" greeting. Wine and cheese welcome added a special touch! Highly recommend.

On a recent motorcycle trip up the Pacific Coast Highway in California, my wife and I decided to look up a beautiful little Inn we stayed at almost 30 years ago. We were pleasantly surprised to find it much the same as we had remembered. The cozy room with the wood burning fireplace, the antiques, the European down comforter on the bed.........exactly as we remembered! The entire staff seemed to take a genuine interest in making our stay there perfect. The valet parking guys couldn't ride the motorcycles up to the parking garage, but they ran all the way there to lead us to the right place! The "Strawberries Monterey" were gone but a very nice breakfast was delivered just as ordered to our room. Our daughter and her Fiance' stayed in the same room we stayed in 30 years ago, so that was kind of fun. The only disappointment was not being able to enjoy a nice cigar up on their roof top lounging area, taking in a beautiful view of Monterey Bay. No worries though as there was a nice park a very short walk from there. The Inn is right on Cannery Row with lots of things to enjoy. We would definately go back again!

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking Cannery Row are less expensive than the rooms overlooking the bay (as most wou...

We loved this place and wished we had more than 1 night here. We were stopping over on the drive down the coast. The room and service was better than the 4 star hotels we had been staying at! Beautiful room with a fireplace, four poster bed and sitting area so lots of room to move around. The Aveda products were a beautiful touch and the bath was huge! We enjoyed the lovely free wine and cheese in the afternoon. Would definitely stay here again!

I'd never visited the Monterey aquarium and felt it was time, and I wanted to stay close to it and close to the water. The Spindrift got great reviews here so I checked out their site, called them & felt good about my choice. The package deal for a street-view room for 2 w/breakfast and 2 2-day passes to the aquarium was, w/taxes, just under $300. Valet parking was $21/nite. The room was comfy, cozy (fireplace), airy (balcony). The staff was wonderful. We needed help w/the tv and the pillows and they were at our room in a flash. There was also a wine/cheese reception in the late afternoon that featured pedestrian cheeses and barely-drinkable wine. And I never understand why American hotel breakfasts have to be so low-class.... How about some good, plain yogurt w/an assortment of seasonal fruits, nuts and granola, and some substantial bread(s)? Is that too much to ask? We were served the requisite white toast, fruit-flavored, sugar-free (artificially sweetened) yogurt, over-cooked hard-boiled eggs. At least the coffee here was quite decent. The shower was also the usual...drip, drip, drip. No pressure. The staff were all sweet and very helpful, except for one woman at the front desk who was phony and I found her very unpleasant.

Room Tip: I'd opt to face the ocean if I stayed there again. There was a lot of street noise late into th...

We had a room on the ground floor. Great decor and clean. The best thing about thus hotel was the view. Our room had two big windows that swung out so you could see/hear the ocean. Super cool! Only downfall was that it was noisy outside our window throughout the night as the beach area is public. A lot of money to pay for lousy sleep! Second best thing about this hotel is location. Right in Cannery Row and down the street from the wonderful aquarium!

I never write hotel reviews online because I don't care and often wonder why people do this. But this hotel is just so incredibly good. It is quite small and you feel like the staff is truly dedicated to you right from the start. We were greeted with free wine and cheese which we took bac to our room. As soon as we entered we were astonished by the ocean view. The room had binoculars and we spent hours looking at sea otters, seals, and various birds. We refilled our wine at the lobby, free of course. We walked to our restaurant, there is a ton of good ones nearby. The bed was incredibly soft. We slept with the soft sound of ocean waves through the window just slightly open. It was perfect. The wife was happy.
