Comfort Inn Monterey by the Sea

As most will appreciate, travelling with under 5's can be challenging, and putting them into a separate room in the evening is useful for one's enjoyment of the stay. Comfort Inn has suites with a small single bedroom separate to the main room for very reasonable prices, definitely the cheapest I could find in Monterey. Yes the walls are thin, and the breakfast was OK only, but comfortable beds and the place was clean. Good value.

Room Tip: ask for the suites if you have small children

I am glad that we were able to accommodate you and your family in one our two bedroom suites. They are popular especially during school holidays. Book early and save when you reserve online.

Efficient staff, clean rooms, better than average breakfast. Beds and bathroom were fine; nothing fancy Older property but appears to be well taken care of. A few nearby restaurants, but you'll need to drive to get to Monterey Bay area -- which actually isn't worth the visit except for the aquarium.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn on Munras Avenue in late October. It was a Saturday night, so the hotel was full. There was only one tight space left for our car, but Nancy at the front desk offered to move her car so that we could have her space. Nancy was great - she sets the bar for how friendly and accommodating hotel receptionists should be.

Our room was small but adequate. Shower stall only in the bathroom, no tub. However, that was all that we needed. Bed was comfortable, but the walls were thin. I think that the rooms must be separated by 1/4 inch wallboard. Fortunately, we're fairly sound sleepers, so we weren't troubled by noise.

The parking lot is small, but if you get in late, as we did, you can park in the reception spot, and there are two extra spots along side the swimming pool. The ground floor and second floor, opening to the parking lot, are beautifully decorated with a myriad of flowers, in planters and hanging baskets. They were all in full bloom, even in late October.

The breakfast room is small, but cleared out efficiently by a very friendly staff. The usual assortment of pastries, hard boiled and scrambled eggs, yogurt, etc. There was a high school soccer team staying at the hotel the night that we stayed, but there was no crowding in the breakfast room thanks to the efficiency of the staff.

A nice place to stay - not too far from Monterey Bay, Pacific Grove, and Lover's Point. There is free two hour parking along the shore in Pacific Grove, and farther out by Asilomar Beach, which is well worth a visit.

Nice hotel! Thanks, Nancy!

I am in Monterey almost every month and usually stay at the Comfort Inn. It is a budget hotel and this is one of the reasons I stay there. Priced at about $90 to $130 depending on the room is about right. My most recent stay though the room was in bad shape. Carpet worn (holes in the carpet ) needs a paint job, looked more like a seedy hotel. The room should was only worth half the price if that much. Word of advice, check the room before you settle in.

Pretty average accomodation a long way from the beach. By the sea only if global wrming causes the coastline to move inland some miles!

As long as you know you are getting cheap accomodation, then I guess it is Ok

We are glad we provided you with a value stay at our Comfort Inn. Though not walking distance to the beach, we are the closest Comfort Inn to the beach which is located less then 2miles (1.5 miles) away. About 5 minutes drive. Plus we have several other beaches which are located within 8 miles. We appreciate your business.

We contacted the Motel and talked to 'Jayme'. She is outstanding. She, truly, walked the extra mile getting us a room. With the AAA and the coupon (Jayme took care of that) from Comfort Inn we really got a deal. Good enough to spend an extra day in Monterey. Parked the bike right in front of the (ground level) room. The area is quiet and there is a laundry a block away, nobody messed with the bike. Seemed to be a lot of Law Enforcement moving around the area - in a good way. There are 'street people' wondering about, but they seem to know their limits. This seems to be true for all of Monterey that we saw.

The TV is nothing extra, but we are not on the road to watch TV. The bath room is good size and the shower head is over my head (I'm over 6'). The WiFi is good, not secured, but good. There are plenty of delivery restaurants near by. Monterey is a difficult town to drive/ride in. Lot of one way streets and no left turns. So, getting to the motel can be a challenge sometimes.

It was well worth the money spent. I will be staying here again.

Room Tip: If you're on a motorcycle, make it clear you want it near your room.
