We took room for family with two queen beds.
The room was big enough, clean with microwave, refrigerator
and all what we needed + nice continental breakfast.
The motel is located in a area about 5 miles from the aquarium and the fisherman's warf, but if you have a car it's just 10 minutes.
There are a lot of motels around and places to eat.

We got a good price for this motel, about 75 per night for 4 people.
I have been traveling for a month in the USA, and it's the best motel I have been to.

I booked 3 nights for our party of 5 adults, on the hotel website. The rate was what we paid !

The place is run by a family from India, who keep the best space on the parking lot for their Lexus. I found all spaces tiny to park our Navigator, so this is not the place for a trailer or RVs !

Check-in was efficient, if not especially friendly. I must acknowledge that requests for directions were met ... efficiently.

Rooms were certainlyl quite large. Clean, although the style and decoration do make for a clean feel. We found the bed extremely comfortable, but then we do not like soft. Although it is along the highway, it is quiet. No noise from the road, the walkway on the second floor, the parking lot.
Bathroom is old, but clean. It is true that there is a not so faint smell in the place. May be it has to do with the air conditioning unit.

After checking out the breakfast area and food, we decided we could not face that, even foc. We headed to Old Monterey Cafe instead, which we enjoyed very much.

So ? Convenient, not bad. But I could not wait to find a 'better' place.

Reserved and paid for this months in advance, using AAA rate. We had 2 King Suite for around $135. Due to the multiple high end car shows in town, everything in town was pretty much booked. Nevertheless, I heard the desk manager relating a price of $209 for a King room for the night after we left. What a shock those customers must have had!
Our room was poorly lit, had dark blue carpeting that felt almost moist and an odor reminiscent of mildew. However, for the most part, the room was clean. It was certainly spacious, with almost a separate wing for the second hard king bed. We were informed, however, that although we had rented the suite, we would not be allowed to use the sofa bed in the room without incurring an additional undisclosed cost! We chose not to give this hotel any more of our money and did not utilize the sofa bed which we had intended for our adolescent son. I overheard what sounded like the housekeeper being asked to check to make sure we hadn't used the sofa bed.
Our room was on the ground floor but quiet enough at night. The pool looked fine but it was too cold outside for us to use the pool. This is a standard motel layout with the pool area in the middle of the parking lot.
The free internet access was a draw but there were no outlets open anywhere near the tiny round table which was the only thing that could have been used as a desk. There was a clean mini-frig and microwave. Bathroom was old, dingy but relatively clean. No mold was evident, but yet there was that smell...too far from the beach to be related to ocean spray.
The continental breakfast was served in the small lobby with 2 small tables available. It was well maintained but minimal in its offerings. Coffee, juice, english muffins, 2 types of cereal/milk and standard mini-danish. Same menu both mornings we were there...
The location was within walking distance to a nice mall that had multiple restaurants, Macy's, Pottery Barn, Whole Foods, RiteAid and theatres. It was NOT within walking distance of town or the waterfront, the aquarium, Cannery Row, the beach or any of the other reasons we came to Monterey. However, freeway access was easy and we could get to Carmel in a matter of minutes.
If your family needs a large room, is staying for two nights or less, and the rate is under $100, this might fit the bill. However, our family will look elsewhere if we return to this area.

The stay at the hotel was rather nice but we had a problem regarding the rate.
We booked two rooms via hotels.com which, as I realised, uses travelnow.com. The rates at which we booked the rooms was in fact an AAA rate, but the website said nothing about it. As we are not AAA members the hotel charged $78 more than was mentioned on the confirmations. Now travelnow.com offers a compensation of $30 (!) in vouchers for the mistake and does not answer my several following emails.
As for hotels.com, they simply say they cannot do anything about this.
Therefore I do not recommend using either hotels.com or travelnow.com services as they do not seem reliable. To book in this hotel go directly to the super8 website.

Reasonable for a cheaper place but the beds were really uncomfortable. Hard and unsteady and meant we couldn't get a good night's sleep...which is what you're really looking for in this sort of place. By comparison, the Comfort Inn down the road had wonderfully comfy beds and cost the same.
