My beau and I just got back from a two-night stay in Monterey. Instead of splurging on a "luxury" hotel, we decided to try the Best Western de Anza Inn based on the great reviews on Tripadvisor. To our surprise, everything was almost perfect. Emily, the GM, was extremely helpful when I made close to last minute reservations. We stayed for two nights and were pleasantly surprised with how big the rooms were and how clean everything was! The staff was also very helpful. The rooms were equipped with a mini refrigerator and microwave. If you are a AAA member, the rooms are $107.99 plus tax. You can't beat that. It's about a 10 to 15 minute drive to Cannery Row. This was a find given that this was a last minute trip and we wanted something affordable where we would be comfortable. The rooms were not equipped with air conditioning, something I didn't think I could live without. Surprisingly, the rooms weren't stuffy at all as we kept the windows open and the weather in Monterey is always nice, so we weren't freezing nor were we suffering from being too hot or uncomfortable. There is a light continental breakfast in the mornings: pastries, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, etc. It was an added bonus since our purpose wasn't to get a free breakfast. The hotel was also located in a quiet area. We were satisfied and sold on the service, the cleanliness and size of the room and the price! This was definitely a find!!!

We found this hotel through TripAdvisor and stayed because of the ratings. We weren't disappointed. It's clean, quiet, comfortable, and the price is reasonable.
The wharf is about a thirty minute walk along a paved trail that runs along the beach. The trail begins within a few blocks of the hotel: A very pleasant walk or bike ride.
We found the breakfast better than most with hard boiled eggs, various cereals and pasteries.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

My wife and I stayed here for a birthday weekend in Monterey. The hotel was very nice. We liked the Koi pond in the lobby. Our room was large (the bay window was a very nice touch) and the bathroom was clean and well organized (we really liked the night light in the bathroom). The shampoo did have conditioner in it and there were plenty of luggage carts. Three things we didn't like were that the toilet broke (but was quickly repaired), there was no room to site for the nice looking breakfast (so we went to Denny's) and the walls were pretty thin and we heard people come in and make lots of noise early in the morning. Other than that we loved it. It's convenient to the aquarium and cannery row without being right on it. The staff is friendly and the rooms are very nice. We also liked the quality for the price. And next time were buying the aqarium tickets at the hotel. They have a two days for one day price which seemed really good.

We recently stayed one night at this hotel. Despite being older, it is very well maintained and has been updated with granite countertops in the bathroom, newer looking carpet and linens, nice furniture, etc. The room is very large and was very quiet. We were on the top floor and the ceiling in our room was vaulted, which added to the room's spaciousness and was a nice change of pace from the typical hotel room. We faced the back of the hotel and we watched a beautiful California sunset from our window (which is a bay window -- also a nice change of pace from your typical hotel room). Check-in was fast and the person behind the counter was friendly. Denny's is right by the property and it was nice to be able to walk to it. The only suggestion we would have to improve this hotel is that they need a few more luggage carts as there weren't enough to go around during morning check-out time. To make matters worse, we observed an employee using one of the luggage carts to tote supplies around. Also, only shampoo was provided -- no conditioner (and it wasn't the type of shampoo with conditioner in it). But we still enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much and will definitely stay here again if we are in Monterey.

The rooms in this hotel were really spacious and ideal for those travelling with small children. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly and the light buffet breakfast was OK if you are after something quick and easy. We purchased our tickets to the Monterey Aquarium at a reduced price from Reception and this was simply added to our our overall bill. The kids loved the fish in the foyer pond!
