Lovely place on Cannery Row in Monterey.
Went in for a drink and booked for evening meal - friendly, helpful staff and very good food.

The filet and the steamed artichoke were okay. The meal was average. The prices suggested that it would be better than average. Also the mojitos were too sweet.

We hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner for 45 people at the Chart House, in Monterey. The evening was beyond perfect and completely exceeded our expectations in every way. From the beginning of the process to the actual dinner, Ellen, the general manager, was great. Actually, Ellen was so flexible with our needs and allowed us to truly customize our event. She offered us lots of menu options, cocktail suggestions, and setup ideas. The customization and flexibility was ultimately the reason we went with the Chart House; but the food is what was so memorable. We had lobster tail (big hit), prime rib, fresh fish and chicken. Our guests loved the food, and so did we!

Not only was the food incredible delicious the staff was very attentive and friendly. We had an outstanding experience and would do it all over again. Originally, we had concerns that our event would be 'semi-private'. We thought this might be a distraction but it wasn't. We were seated on a raised area of the restaurant, looking out to the ocean. It really felt like we were in our own bubble and never noticed anyone around us...it felt like a private event.

We also found the overall cost for our rehearsal dinner at the Chart House to be competitive. Actually, we hosted hors d'oeuvres and open-bar for an hour prior to the dinner. Then we continued the open-bar during dinner and found this price to be less expensive than some other restaurant on the Peninsula that were only offering dinner. This competitive pricing allowed us to offer our guests so much more than elsewhere. Not to mention, the Chart House let us stay as long as we wanted. Most other places had a two hour limit. Seriously best option in town!

We can't say enough good things about the Char House. The food is beyond delicious, the view is breathtaking, the atmosphere is superb and the service is top-notch. It was a perfect start to what ended up being a magical wedding.

Went here for a special dinner. While we looked at the menu, we started with a champagne toast an an ahi appetizer. Ahi was delicious- prepared two ways and served with wasabi and kimchi sauces (which we had on the side).

My husband ordered the trio go soup- clam, lobster bisque and gazpacho while I had the clam chowder- all very nicely prepared. For dinner, I had the prime rib- perfectly prepared and much less fatty than you often see - I love prime rib but seldom order due to the fat content. This was perfect, served with a dude of garlic smashed potato. My husband had the yellowfin tuna - very rare as is his preference. All that accompanied by a very nice Pinot noir.

We had a lovely evening. Excellent service, perfectly paced dinner.
