We went to this restaurant years ago and decided to go again on this trip even though it was in the touristy section of Cannery Row. It was much better than I remembered it. The food was very good. The fish could have been cooked less, but it was still moist. The oysters were great as well.

If you're a member at Bargetto Winery, you can bring their wines in without paying corkage.

This restaurant is right on the water, so the views are good as well.

The only bad thing was not the restaurant's fault. For some reason, people think it is appropriate to have their toddlers stand or even sit in their diapers on the table. Who in the heck wants to eat off of a table that has had that on it? A lot of people bring small children to this area. They should think before they do something like that.

We arrived in Monterey for a short, 2 night stay & after checking in to our hotel we ventured out for some food & came across the Fish Hopper. Great calamari starter (portions were huge so we shared one starter which was plenty sufficient). Ahi seared tuna was delicious & the prawns were scrumptious. The cocktails weren't bad either. We didn't need to eat dinner that evening as we were still full from our lunch! Very satisfying & friendly service...always busy & great views if you can sit at the end if the glass pier seating area! Would definitely recommend!

But we never got the chance to try. We waited about 15 minutes and could not get service. The waiter took our drink order, but never came back to our table. We saw him four times greeting other guests, but never us. My husband said he was paying more attention to the table with the man with the Rolex than us, a Target clothes wearing family. We got up and left other tables who were seated after us got their drinks. Will not go again.

Many if not most restaurants with such a beautiful view from almost all the tables just don't serve that good of food. We stopped here because it was convenient and didn't expect all that much, but we both enjoyed our lunches. He had a fish chowder that was above-average, and I had a very substantial ahi tuna dish from the list of appetizers that kept me going all afternoon. I also had a good cocktail, and he appreciated their draft beer choices. It would be a nice choice for dinner, I think, too.

Had lunch with my wife and friends today. Had a very good fettuccine with prawns and excellent clam chowder. Will eat here again next time I'm in Monterey.
