“Excellent Seafood”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

While visiting my nephew in Carmel we were looking for a seafood restaurant to have lunch with a view. I looked through the reviews on Tripadvisor but couldn't find just what we needed which was , a view, seafood , no stairs, and not much of a walk from a parking space. My nephew chose Fish Hopper and I'm glad he did. The view was great as it was at the end of a pier, and ambiance good too. Service was good. I don't remember exactly what everyone had, but I had the best macadamia encrusted fresh halibut I have ever had. It was coated with just the right amount of macadamia nuts and cooked to perfection. It was servered on a tasty bed of vegies with a nice portion of seet potato on the side. The portion size was plenty big and most people would not walk away wanting more. My nephew had the lobster and linguine and said it was very good. Oh, and the sourdough bread they served was excellent. We didn't have rooom for dessert, but when they brought the dessert tray to the table it sure looked good. I would definately try Fish Hopper again.

“A Wonderful Birthday Lunch”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

We took a day trip from SF to Monterey and Carmel. We had a three hour stopover in Monterey and went to the Fish Hopper for lunch. Our tour driver recommended this place and we decided to give it a try. We had no reservation but were immediately seated at a table over the water. We both had the pistachio encrusted ahi tuna and it was absolutely delicious...done to sushi-like perfection, as requested. The coconut-jasmine rice was a wonderful accompaniment. The bottle-and-a-half of a perfect pinot grigio (a great bargain) made for a wonderful birthday lunch. The service was excellent and speedy, which we appreciated since our time in this beautiful town was limited. Excellent location, terrific food and lovely service. Loved it!

“Great menu”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

On wharf - great view - but the food is better than the view! Large menu - something for everyone. Prices reasonable. Very good food.

“Too much kitch but GREAT fish!”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Ok. So many folks told us to avoid this tourist trap but after a late arrival in Monterey we knew we would want something close to the hotel so we booked Fish Hopper. It was great! Yes, it is a bit over the top and really busy but sitting next to a deafending group of women (have fun but do you need to scream at the top of your lungs?) we just asked to be moved and our wonderful server re-sat us in a very quiet part of the restaurant totally apologetic. Wine list was great. Clam chowders excellent as was our three fish dinners. Halibut was outstanding and cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed our dinner here and would recommend it to others. Proof again that a popular tourist attraction can still provide a great dinner.

With an amazing bay view this restaurant was great, friendly staff with a great atmosphere. The seafood was some of the best we had in California and we sampled lots.
Reasonable priced too...
