Four of us were visiting Monterey and based on the hotel front desk recommendation, we drove to the Fish House. We pulled up and were worried about the unpretentious outside and what seemed like no visible cars; we entered the Fish House and it was crowded and people were having a great time. We did not have reservations (call ahead--it is better to have reservations because the place is so very popular); the Host was able to accommodate us because of a no show and the generosity of the person on the wait list before us. The waiter was outstanding. He knew the menu, offered wine pairing suggestions; comped the birthday girl with a candle-lit slice of cake because her order was not correct; and made the evening very enjoyable. Parking is next door in the lot to the South. The menu is wonderful and every dish ordered was prepared perfectly. Grilled salmon and almond crusted mahi mahi was excellent. Sausage ravioli was also raved about. This is a very casual place and the experience wonderful. Highly recommend the Monterey Fish House!
