Great food and usually friendly staff, but its a small place so sometimes they get flustered. If you're having a decent sized party under 25 you can ask for the Tiki room, which is a more private part of the restaurant. They also have a good bar with island inspired drinks along with the usual intoxicants. I usually go for the pulled pork, but love the seaweed salad and their ginger coleslaw which is about the only coleslaw i enjoy. Go to have fun, dress anyway you want from punk to suit.

“I want to savor the flavor”

You know when you eat something so good, you
don't want to eat or drink anything for a while, because
you don't want that taste to go away...That's how it is at Hula's.
And we always seem to get the great waitress...Maybe they're all cool.

“Doesn't know wine”
Reviewed August 22, 2008

A while back, we had a bad experience with corky wine (a glass, not a bottle!) and the manager/owner argued about it until we decided to leave before ordering a meal. He insisted we were wrong, and even got kind of nasty. It was the silliest response from a restaurant manager, and cost him a table that evening as well as repeat customers in the future.

“We LOVE Hulas!”
Reviewed August 5, 2008

I don't know that it's possible to run a restaurant much better than this. From the service, to the food, to the fun vibe, and the tiki surroundings, this is great place. We visit the area every couple of years and always make it a point to stop by... we're never disappointed.
It almost doesn't matter what you order on the menu, the preparation and quality are always quite good. Fish tacos, BBQ pork, the Hula burger, oh, did I mention sweet potato fries? Oh yeah! The only near miss I had was ordering a blackened snapper (i think) last year. The fish was coated with blackening seasoning and grilled to perfection, but it was not blackened.
The drinks from the tiki bar are a lot of fun. I recommend the Dr. Funk! Get there early on weekends as the place is understandably popular.
