We ate at the restaurant on our first night in Monterey. This place is right on the touristy wharf. We had booked well in advance and requested a table at the back, which looks out over the water. Our request was honoured. The restaurant is very small and crowded -- you can hear everyone's dinner conversation. The seating is also almost cramped.
Our server was very nice and answered our questions. We shared grilled sardines which were great and could have made a great main dish accompanied by a salad.
Our fish mains were fine -- but the breading on the snapper and the calamari steak was leaden and I felt detracted from the fish. The orzo accompaniment was fine. The best part of the main plate were the nice vegetables.
The meal was fine -- the wine was a bargain and I certainly felt the value was there for what we got. If I were to go again, I think the pasta or pizza would be a better option.
