I usually refrain from entering a restaurant where one of the staff is standing outside and trying to attract passing by people to enter. It seems like tourist trap more than anything else. This time was different as the lady outside was holding a leach full of great looking mashrooms that I could not ignore. The lady told whoever stopped by about the freash seafood secials.
In Israel where Live it is quite unusual to find fresh Swordfish that I like. So as soon as the lady out Paradiso trattoria mentioned the Swordfish special, she got me. I looked at the menu afterwards and they do offer good choice of Italia food, but I was up to the Swordfish special.
The Swordfish filet was grilled exactly as it should be and was accompanied with fresh roasted vegies and mashed potetoes. On top there was light wine and cream sauce, but very little of it, which was great.
The combination of tastes was great, which for me is indicative of the restaurant kitchen. Not too much sauce, vegies roasted to wonderful crispy taste, and the fish was just great.
Most of the seats offer great ocean view. The service was reasonable given the lunch rush hour on a Sunday and the sunny day outside.
I will certainly stop by when visiting Monterey again.
