“Looking forward to going back!”

I stay here every time I'm in the Monterey area. It's an on site, small, family owned and operated hotel with FREE WI-FI. You can't beat the value for the area and they are always happy to see repeat guest; you really begin to feel like an old friend coming in out of the cold when you show up here. The rooms are a fair size, CLEAN and quiet. The owners do not mess around with any shenanigans and are quick to address issues or to confront guest who are disturbing others. Simply put, if they don't want you there they will tell you making this little inn my home away from home on the central California coast. I can't emphasize this enough; this "hotel" is the owner's home. They WILL treat you like a guest in their home. Just don't wear out your welcome.

There are abundant shops and eateries just across the street as well as bars, clubs and cool night life within just a couple minutes drive. Down town and the shoreline are also just a couple of minutes away. Highway 1 is just around the corner giving you access to the surrounding area and sights.

One last thing; pets are NOT welcome here. Even if you plan to leave them in your vehicle over night, if they cause a disturbance you will be asked to check out. And don't even think of trying to sneak them into your room thinking that the owners won't know. If their cleaning staff find any evidence of an animal in your room; fur, smell, fleas, expect a call from the owner informing you of an additional $250 charge to your card to have your room cleaned and sanitized. This is the one downside to this little gem but like I said before, this is someone's home, not just a business.

Phoned one day ahead and reserved a room for one with a king size bed. Checked-in the next day at 3:30pm. When I entered the room I was disappointed to see a 3 inch hole in the carpet, a queen-sized bed with poorhouse dressing, knockout disinfectant odor, and ultrathin towels.

I returned to the office and told them I reserved a king-size bed, hoping a different room would be comfortable. The attendant said I reserved a queen. I corrected him and was referred to Mr. Patel, the manager, who changed my room.

This room did have a king-size bed, along with a deep 6 inch gash caused by the slamming of the handicapped style door handle into the cheap drywall, and unscreened windows. Another meth room.

I requested a refund, yet was only partly reimbursed. The online site was less than accommodating, so I decided not to waste more time with this company. I am crossing Knights Inns off my list of places to stay.

We stayed at the Knight's Inn on a Friday and Saturday evening in July and enjoyed our stay there. For us two, the room was comfortable and had a nice jacuzzi inside the room. We were right in between the 17-Mile Drive and the Aquarium/Cannery Row/Fisherman's Wharf area, so the location of the hotel was ideal. There were several nice places to eat nearby also.

This motel is quite basic so we were a bit disappointed, given the good reviews we had read on this site.

For a chain motel, I was very surprised that "standard" amenities were not provided. We phoned ahead to request a crib for our baby, to be told that they don't do cribs. Also, there was no coffee/tea maker in the room. The pool in the car park is a bit of a joke and is clearly just there so they can check the 'pool' box. I doubt if anyone ever uses it. Despite what other reviews say, traffic noise was quite audible, though not a serious problem.

Our room was a fair bit smaller than the average motel room. There were other minor annoyances, such as the TV remote control not working, the free internet access not working in the room due to an erratic signal, etc.

Overall, it is quite ok for a brief overnight stay while passing through, but that's about it.

Definitely not what I had expected from the small price I paid for 4 nights. That is a good thing I must mention. I had not expected it to be so clean, nice & as comfortable as it was. Of course the a.m. cont. breakfast was not big at all, it did have coffee (the way I like it). The bathroom & shower was really clean & very accommodating. Housekeeping was really nice, they didn't bother the things I didn't want them to as well. It is not a very far walk from the Mucky duck & other bars & restaurants in the city of course. $6 for a cab ride home after a few drinks wasn't bad at all. Comparing the prices to Pennsylvania, I wasn't getting too good of a buzz with an $8 shot of ANYTHING. Not to mention that PF Changs & a nice quantity of shopping places just across the road. I do recommend a stay here if your not renting a car. One other amenity was what they call "DoorBell Dining" which was very convenient yet not open very late.

My room felt cozier and more comfy than other inexpensive hotels in the area, and that made for a good night's sleep, and despite being so close to the road, the room seemed reasonably soundproof so the noise was minimal. The location is right across from the Del Monte shops (Macy's, Borders, Whole Foods Market, etc), and convenient to Hwy 1 and Carmel.

I stayed at the Knights Inn for one evening. Everything appeared clean and in order. However, I found several bedbugs in the bed in the morning. I informed the manager and showed him the bugs. I will not be staying at this hotel again.
