The location is a 5 min walk to most restaurants and the convention center and cheaper parking garages. There is also a good breakfast served and lovely historic ness to this hotel. Staff friendly and eco-conscious hotel policies were nice.

Holidayed early September having booked late and all our usual favourites fully booked. On arrival all ok. Room very dated. Small bathroom, pine panelled bath. Creaky floors. Net curtains at windows. Cracked ceilings and peeling wallpaper. But hey ho, room clean but have seen better for cheaper. First two nights great, slept well. Then new arrivals next door. Walls are so thin all could be heard. TV on full blast and occupants speaking loud to each other over the sound of TV. Doors banging, burping and everything could be heard. How she did it I don’t know but my wife fell asleep. I carried on listening to the noise. After a while bedside phone rang from reception. As phone was on my wife’s side of bed she answered it to be told room below were complaining of excessive noise. As she had been sleeping she had no idea what was meant by this and simply said she didn’t understand as we were tucked up in bed. Well,after listening to the noise my wife hadn’t heard I went down to reception to explain that we had received this complaint to be told yes sir you are making too much noise. Having explained the situation to the gentleman on reception I asked if he had been up to check where the noise was coming from. He said no, so I asked him to accompany me and I would show him where the noise was from. On doing this he walked straight past the room and did nothing. Pathetic, and we put up with the noise for another hour.
Next day I put in an official complaint to a lady on reception. She noted that it had been logged the previous night about a complaint about room noise against our room. No further explanation was offered about my visit to reception the previous night to try to sort things and was simply given a shrug of the shoulders. She checked the occupancy of the room next door and said she couldn’t understand why the occupants were so noisy as they were elderly people. So are my wife and I, but wouldn’t dream of making excessive noise that we experienced. After receiving these comments at reception and being told they next doors occupants were there for a further five days I said that thankfully we are going home tomorrow and that the experience and lack of assistance from reception had totally ruined our holiday. Not even an apology. To make matters worse, our last night was even worse with noise from next door and for even longer. Totally shattered on return and so relieved to leave this hotel. Such a shame as everything else about hotel we enjoyed. We spent a lot of money going and in bar and restaurant but on bed and breakfast basis you are made to feel inferior as half board clients take priority. For instance on our last night the tables for B and B clients were reduced in the restaurant to the extent that 2 people were served at the bar sat on stools with food. Totally unhygienic. We are regular visitors to Jersey, but never again to this hotel and will book earlier in future to make sure we get better service.

Hotel has perfect location right in the heart of Monterey and in walking distance to the waterfront. The hotel staff is great, the breakfast delish and very generous. Only negative issue is that this old building has thin walls, so noise can be an issue.

If you’re looking for a quieter stay in the future, we would recommend upgrading to our new deluxe rooms. We have recently renovated them and added sound-proofing. Perfect location, lovely breakfast, clean and pretty room. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel is right in the centre, in easy walking distance to all the bars, restaurants and wharf. Valet parking too!

We enjoyed our short stay here. It's in a good location and for the price it was perfect for us. We enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning and the staff is very attentive. We definitely would book again.
