I stayed in this hotel on February/2011 for 3 nights. Room was clean and also the bathroom, spacious and very good for 2 people. Location was good, however we had a car to go all the places in Monterey and Carmel. Complimentary breakfast was good with fruit, bread, cereal and juice. Complimentary parking for our car, very positive. They have wireless connection and if you need they have a free computer to use the internet. In the room they have microwave and refrigerator inside the room, very positive also.
I'd really recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Very spacious room, nice hotel.

We stayed here on a Saturday night on our way from Santa Barbara to San Francisco.

Considering the great value price of this hotel/motel it was very good. Rooms were clean but dated, we had patio access directly to the pool (unfortunately it was too cold for a swim!) and the included breakfast was certainly better than other more expensive hotels we stayed in on this trip.

In terms of location, this hotel is a couple of miles from the sea but it's a very easy 5 minute drive and pretty convenient for arriving/leaving Monterey.

Overall if you're looking for a good value 1 night stay this place is recommended.

I had my dog with me, and chose this place mainly because of that, and also the hotel is right off of Hwy. 1 (the only negative of location is I heard a few jets from the nearby airport, but not enough for that to be "an issue"). My dog is totally house broken, and was afraid of being put in a pet friendly room that was smelly, musty, etc. I got a nice room with two queen beds. When I called the desk and told them I was taking the dog for a morning walk, they would send housekeeping to clean the room right away. The free wi-fi works well, and there is lots of free parking (these are hit and miss at other Monterey hotels). The staff was friendly, the room was comfortable and spacious, and I loved having a sliding glass door that opens to a small sitting space/balcony. I also enjoyed the Korean/sushi restaurant on the property. The free breakfast in the morning is simple but sufficient. There are restaurants (inc. Denny's) within a block, as well as a good sized CVS pharmacy (used to be Long's).

One warning: I noticed that although the room had a heater, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. This is a nice hotel for pleasant to cool weather, which Monterey usually has. However, if you ever visit during warm weather, you should know there is no AC.

First off this place has flat roofs which is a really good indacater of being pretty old, pre 60s era mabbie? It looks like a milatary base dorm. The water is nice n hot as well as pressure great. The cord plugins are worn out. Beds nice and comfortable and floors are clean towls nice clean and no stains. If you want to go warf bound or cannery row be prepared to drive . I had to call hotels.com to have the doggie fee the hotel charged me removed . they did after the guy from hotels.com told me they would not charge me. He called them and got it taken care of. The breakfast not worth the time unless you like cold cereal. They did have toast but im an eggs beacon and sassage type of person. Denny's is just couple blocks down and there is a chinese place dirctly across the street. . For the price compared to the hotels closer to cannery row and the wharf, this is a decent deal, the internet skips on videos and is slow :) ...

We stayed at this Travelodge from Dec 30th to Jan 1. My in-laws and my family drove up the PCH from LA and stopped in Monterey for a few days. We had two rooms which were interconnected which really helped. The hotel is very clean, very conveniently located off HWY 1 and almost all amenities were above average. I booked this hotel though PL for $55 a night. We definitely got $55 worth. Free parking right on front of your room to make it easy to put the kids in, free internet (not the fastest) and free continental breakfast (bagels, muffins, cereal). There are plenty of restaurants on Fremont street so its easy to grab some fast food. Only drawback was that it was close to the airport so you hear airplanes flying overhead a few times every hour. Not that big a deal. Overall, I definitely recommend this place for an economic traveller.
Places to visit in Monterey:
1. Point Lobos State park
2. Fisherman's wharf
3. Dennis the menace park if you have kids
4. The Cannery
5. Coast Guard pier

We were nearing the end of our seven week, 10,000+ mile trip around the United States when we checked TripAdvisor.com for a place to stay after reaching Monterey at about 7pm. We concur with the most recent posts - this property is a good value. I is staffed by friendly, courteous and capable personnel. It compares favourably with most of the middle priced motels in which we stayed on this trip.
In addition to the comments posted on this site, we selected the Travelodge because it is dog friendly. We were not charged for our new canine companion as he was a rescue dog. We were told that this Travelodge does not charge extra for service or rescue dogs - we thought this a nice touch.
The room was large and well appointed, but just a slight bit shopworn. There was a bar fridge. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean with a large shower (no tube)and two sinks.
We asked for a ground floor room. The first one seemed to smell of cigarette smoke even though it was posted as no-smoking. Our request for another room was accommodated immediately, without question and with an apology.
The pool was (still) heated. It was clean and large enough for real swimming. It was unlocked 30 minutes early (at 8:30 am), again without question, to allow us to keep to our schedule.
The continental breakfast was served in a large room that appeared to be part of the sushi (not BBQ as in the picture) restaurant on the premises. It was very basic and not up to the rest of the property in terms of fare - no waffles!
The business center is large and well equipped just off the pleasant lobby. There were several computers.
A mild warning - there are a number of steps in a number of places. This is probably due to the hotel size being increased over the years. Also, the hotel is under the flight (landing) path of the Monterey airport and is close to the freeway. So, there could be a noise issue - the number of flights were not large.
Finally, in driving by other hotels in the area, the Travelodge compares favourable in appearance and on price.

My husband and I stayed here for a one night stopover on our way down the PCH. Hotel was clean, big rooms, massive bed and a nice balcony overlooking the pool. Breakfast was complimentary and consisted of Coffee/Tea, juice, cereals, pastries, toast and muffins which was a good to start the day and set us up until mid afternoon. A short drive out of Monterey town itself so you need a car to get to the fishermans wharf/restaurants and shops if you want a nice meal at night as there are just the usual US chain eateries in the vicinity (Dennys, Taco Bell etc) Not a luxury honeymoon destination after all this is a travelodge, but I would definitely recommend to others as a stopover destination and I myself would certainly stay here again
