“fun visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

It's just a pier - there's nothing fancy about it. Except what you get to see. After a short walk of Cannery Road, you get to (if memory serves me correct) San Carlos Beach. On the weekends, you'll see a ton of scuba divers going through their drills. Kinda neat, but it does take up space. Still, there's plenty of space. For the pier, as long as it's open, just walk down and marvel at the view out to sea and the potential wildlife you'll run into. Sea Lions are common, as are sea gulls. People fish from the pier, and you'll see an occasional otter as well. Fun walk for the kids. Better than a zoo.

“Great Pier fro Starfish and Seals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2013

The third pier in Monterey, just past Fisherman's Wharf features a beautiful sandy beach on one side with a small park and benches and the Coast Guard docks on the other. The pier goes out a narrow walkway (one car wide) to a breakwater where the birds and sea lions command it. Along the rocky shore out to the breakwater you can see starfish, crabs and other sea life on an outgoing tide. Once you arrive at the breakwater be prepared to see hundreds of birds nesting. The males are constantly bringing seaweed to the nesting female where she takes from him and adds it to their nest. We watched the males and females take turns protecting the nests from other birds that want to steal parts of it for their nest...(just like the US government). Along the bottom and sides of the breakwater large sea lions have encamped and are raising their young. Again, it is fun to watch the antics of the sea lions in the water as well as on shore. This pier is far more interesting that either of the other two in the bay. We parked across the street in a one hour free parking area. There are restrooms there as well.

You can just about see a lot of the bay, peninsula, the surrounding towns and cities from the CC Pier... Nice place to visit to see the wild life, seal lions...seagulls, terns, etc... and again close to find some food along visiting this site... Nice place...

“Really special”

There are not that many interesting things to see in Monterey, but this pier is exception. It's great spot for watching sea lions and see, really relaxing and nice!

“Special for all ages”

The star fish and other sea life you can see from the pier is great and on the weekend, you have the added benefit of watching a ton of divers doing their quals. At the very end of the pier, (which is fenced off) you can sit and watch more sea lions than you can count playing in the water and resting on the warm rocks. A must for anyone visiting the area.
