While in Monterey, be sure to go on this excursion!
It was amazing to be able to spot so many whales in their natural habitat!
Our guide was very knowledgeable, and explained some of the habits and behaviors of these giants of the sea! I highly recommend this as a do not miss
while in Monterey!

We've now gone on whale watching trips with Monterey Bay Whale Watch www.montereybaywhalewatch.com two different times. The first time was outstanding in that we caught great weather, saw probably 30-40 whales and just had a fantastic time. This last trip (Feb 8) was not quite as good but that was because the weather wasn't cooperating as nicely and the whales weren't either. The weather was not so bad to say they should not have gone out, I definitely would have said go, it was just enough to mess with some balance issues I have so I had to focus more on myself than enjoying the trip. I saw that others had a great time and I still rate this very high as the crew did everything they could to help us make the most of the trip.

They can't control the weather or the wildlife but they can control how they handle it and how they make the trip informative, interesting, and fun. This they do very well. I look forward to going again in the future.

As locals we have the unique opportunity to whale watch whenever we want. So we do and we have tried other companies but we always come back to MBWW because they try without you having to endure constant talking. Yes i want information but not through the whole trip. It's nice to just be out on the water -- quiet. Other tours we were have gone on had non-stop talking from the "naturalist." When you see the whales, you just want quiet to enjoy their world not someone shrieking in the background.

It was nice that the guys on board come around and talk to passengers and answer questions. These guys know alot because they are out there every day.

There should be a giant disclaimer - whale watching requires Dramamine - before you get on the boat! There were some miserable sick people on our last trip. One guy was in shorts and a t-shirt. It is cold out there folks. Dress in layers. It is no fun being cold and sick.

Seeing whales is a wonderful experience. Don't ruin it for yourself because you didn't prepare properly - and then write a bad review.

this was a great afternoon, sunny, flat sea (!!!), few dolphins. a big group of grey whale giving us a show BUT there were 2 Killer Whales that we follow for 3 hours into the Carmel bay.
What a view !!!
Nancy LOVE her job and made our day !she gave a lot of information. and the crew was very friendly and knowledgeable.
But - for the young kids it was a bit to long (we were on sea for more then 4 hours).
Don't let the sun full you. Dress hot !!!

First off, I'll let you know that we were one of the fortunate groups and got to see approximately 20 whales during our excursion, in addition to some dolphins that swam alongside the boat, and sea lions.

With all of that aside, it was still worth the trip. Each trip is accompanied by a marine biologist. She was walking around during parts of the trip and answered all questions you could throw at her. The staff was all very energetic and you could tell through their voices and actions that they had a passion for what they do.

As we sailed along, the boat's captain (also a marine biologist) was telling everyone about the marine life in the area and how and when the different species move through the area. As we got outside of the bay, she told us what to look for when spotting whales. Within 30 minutes, we had our first sighting, within easy viewing distance. We were told that we couldn't get too close, or else we would risk changing their migration behavior. I feel as if we were pretty close to the animals, and it was awesome.

On the day we went, there were two boats running. The larger of the two, with a large cabin, was designated for families with children while the slightly smaller boat was "adults only". We were on the adults-only boat.

While they recommend taking some form of a motion-sickness pill if you're prone to sea sickness, as my girlfriend is, there is at least one other option to consider. I picked up a set of "sea bands" bracelets for my girlfriend who wore them all trip and didn't get sick (quite a few people did get sick), and the sea was a bit choppy the day we went out. Definitely prepare for it one way or another if you're prone, because it seemed to ruin the fun for the people who did get sick.

Definitely worth the trip.
