“literally across the street from Monterey Bay Lodge.”

Good place for the kids to exert some of that penned up energy from traveling. But like any public place, you could have things in the sand that are left by others. Have them wear shoes, not sandals.

“Perfect Timing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2014

Our family of 8 wanted to find a place to eat and allow the kids to play. This was one of the best "random" stops we found. It wasnt planned, and didnt know about it. Amazingly, we spent a good 1-1.5 hours there.
It was very clean, and even though there were a good amount of people and a baseball game going on, everyone was really nice and kept to themselves. It seemed as if everyone was paying attention to their own children and not letting them run around like savages...which we encounter many times at parks.
All of the structures were spread far enough apart for kids to enjoy and not too far to cause frantic paranoia to parents.
You can sit and view the ocean or play in the clean sand. I was also very impressed on how clean the bathrooms were.

GREAT STOP!!! It was worth the detour.
***I DID SEE A SIGN THAT SAID "CLOSED TUESDAY"..... just a note to self.

“Kids Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

My children had a great time. There are numerous kinds of things to play. There is a hanging bridge, a tunnel and a roller slide. This is located near a pond where there are water rides. Very recommended to families with energetic children. Or you can simply sit under the shade and just enjoy everybody having fun even mom and dad!

“Great, but Miss the Train!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2014

Members of our family have been going here since THEY were kids. The park keeps getting better and better with each visit - upgraded playground equipment, add a climbing wall, all while maintaining the magical quality of the place. However, we were sad not to get to play on the real train engine on our last few trips. Yes, there is a train in the park, that used to be covered with kids, all playing and dreaming and pretending they were driving the train. Now it is fenced off, as the City of Monterey tries to find a way to comply with new playground laws and reopen it. Hope they can do it, and kudos to Monterey for trying!!!
