Went through the shops and restaurants, and had a great time. They give free clam chowder samples at every restaurant and they are all excellent (and I'm not a fan of clam chowder). If you go, try the Crepes, they are delicious. But they don't serve crepes on Wednesdays, so plan accordingly.

Shops and restaurant with a little bit of a tourist trap feel, but overall a nice place stop for dinner. There are many options (pretty much all seafood obviously) and you can probably even manage to get half of a meal out of all the clam chowder samples!

Smelled, looked and felt a bit like a fair or carnival, as most of the wharf has been turned into novelty shops like candy and Ghiradelli Chocolate shops, restaurants and fun touristy places.
This is a great place to watch boats and sea lions though. The sea lions were swimming around and also sitting and barking on a floating raft/dock thing, very close to the wharf docks. This is also an opportunity to get close to Pelican's, if you're interested. They sit all over the docks and seem to like their picture taken!

Everyone goes to Fisherman's Wharf but you should also make a stop here; you can watch people fishing along the wharf and see jellyfish in the water. There are two fantastic restaurants here that you might not expect! The Sandbar and LouLou's; highly recommend both for terrific food.

The wharf itself is a tourist attraction - with the restaurants trying to grab your attention and get you in to eat what usually is an overpriced OK meal. But, if you can get by the hustle and bustle and walk out to the end there are a few concessions that offer whale watching trips out on the bay. You can also walk out to the end and go upstairs over Rappa's Restaurant to see the view around the bay and the harbor.
