“Will return again”

If you have kids, and/or pets this place is wonderful!
Location: Walkable to fisherman's warf, with a stroller if they are small. Prob a 15 min walk. Denis the Menace park, pond, trail, dog park, skate park and baseball feilds all across street. Beach is a block away.
Neighborhood surrounding was okay, no problems and I felt comfortable walking around at nite but I wouldn't let my kids play without a parent watching them.
Room: rooms were clean, bed and linens were vary clean. Shower curtain looked like it was changed between stays, and the cover on the bed had a zipper so that it could be washed. Beds were very soft and comfortable. Small fridge and microwave was a +. TV had hdmi option so we netflixed from our phone for the kids. Pool and hot tub was great for the kids and us after a long day of touring.
Staff was very friendly. Grounds were clean and kept up. The rooms that were dog friendly rooms smelled clean and there was no evidence of animals being there. Also there was a balcony with pool view that was nice to have. Price was resonable.
We look forward to returning here and recommend this place to our friends/family.

On a road thrip through California in January and we decided to stop off in Monterey. The Bay Lodge was the firts motel that we came across and it looked good. IT was late at night, but we just drove in. Reception desk guy was lovely, the room rate was amazing for a drive in, about $80 I think.

Room was extremely keen and well presented with everything you could ask for. Little shop around the corner for snacks.

Highly recommended.

First I want to say that I am a picky person about where I stay on vacation. I usually stay in vacation rental homes. I found this by word of mouth and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are updated although the facility is older. The rooms are clean and neat and had everything I needed. A microwave, fridge, coffee pot with coffee and two bottles of complimentary water. The staff is super friendly and helpful and while staying here, my grandson had a blast in the pool with other kids. The restaurant next door is breakfast and lunch only, but with the Wharf and Cannery Row nearby, there are plenty of places to choose for dinner. If you want fast food, Mc Donalds is across from Lake El Estero, a 10 minute walk. I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. And did I mention they are also pet friendly! Not in the pool, courtyard or office though.

The beach is literally across the street, the Wharf is an easy walk for a family with children, and Cannery Row is a good walk down the path in which the path is literally across the street. If you have children, you can rent bikes or a surrey type vehicle and enjoy the beautiful scenery and clean ocean air while biking down the path that is completely off the streets. Lake El Estero is across the street and you can rent paddle boats which are quite fun. There is also the park by Lake El Estero which is a great place for the kids to exert some energy. For the more adventurous, there is also kayaking and scuba diving.

If you are expecting quiet, this is not the place for you because it is in one of the flight paths which is near Monterey airport. And you do hear people walking past your room. Another plus is how close it is to the airport...10 minute cab ride. The heater worked great and if you want air conditioning, you open the windows...

All in all I would definitely stay here again. For the price and how close it is to everything, it is worth it.

Room Tip: The double queen rooms have a shared balcony which is nice.

A comfortable lodge that comes with necessary amenities. Clean, spacious & comes with fireplace. And you can opt to have rooms at ground floor where you can just park in front of your room. Good location, comfortable rooms & value for money!

We tried this establishment after noting it while staying elsewhere. The Estero (Estuary) City Park is across the street from the Monterey Bay Lodge, an easy walk takes visitord to one of the nicest business neighborhoods in Town. The Old Fisherman's Wharf (the other one) is across the Highway from this hotel; as is the long and narrow white sand public beach.

Away from the clamor and congestion; all of that Acquarium and Sardine Factory area is 3 or 4 miles further down the coast.

The rooms vary in size and level, not heated pool, heated whirlpool (works) and plenty of onsite parking. The restaurant next door is desperation time - the majority of the clientele is take out/delivery. The rooms overlooking the hiway are quiet in the evenings - of course the area around the pool is best.

Room Tip: We recomment any room they have, the secret is to be close to the Hot Tub.

Nice place in Monteray in a quiet neighbourhood. The sea and some nice restaurants at the mole are nearby. Went there for one night with two kids and they also find it nice. The room was okay . nothing special - but good value for money.

My wife was so excited to arrive at a real motel. It had been her dream to stay in a real motel during our road trip and boy did we hit a winner here. From the friendly reception when we arrived, to the heated swimming pool and then to the wonderful and comfortable rooms our arrival set the tone for our two day visit. The rooms have obviously been recently decorated (perhaps they haven't finished them all yet) and are tastefully done with nice curtains and cushions. There is a coffee machine, fridge and a microwave in each room which makes up for the lack of a restaurant. But fear not you are only 15 minutes from the town centre and from the wharf.
