“good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012 via mobile

Travelled with family, my son is almost 1 year old. The staff is great. The hotel is very good. Restaurants serve a variety of delicious food. In room dinning service was good as well.
The golf course is marvelous and they have also a nice pool área with a gigantic chess mat to play, quite interesting. By the end of the day you can enjoy a glass of wine by the pitfire outside. Charming.
The only thing that does not let me give 5 stars in this review is the noise in the rooms. They have poor noise isolation and luckly we had good neighbours uptairs and on our sides. Everytime someone steps in the upper floor it seems they are going to brake the ceiling. The rooms are clean, the cleaning lady is a very sweet person and the showers are good. Finally their location is godo just a few minutes by car from the wharf.

The property, while not luxury, is lovely. This space is comfortable, the atmosphere is delightful, and cleanliness appeared to be a priority. Above all, every member of the safe was courteous and exceptionally well trained.

Booked this hotel through Priceline "name your own price" which means I did not actually choose the hotel. After reading the reviews I was quite worried. As it turns out our room was OK as it backed onto the golf course and not the highway which must be very noisy. Also the soundproofing is terrible.. what were they thinking when they built the place???

Resort fee is such a joke. Just build the fee into the price of the room and stop with the aggravating 'resort fees' Two free bottles of water a day. Seriously?

Pros: Free parking, internet, fridge in room,.
Cons: Soundproofing between rooms, close to highway, resort fees.

Room Tip: Get a room backing onto the golf. Ask for a non-connecting room.

I have been a member of the Hyatt Gold Passport program since the mid 80's and stayed at many of their properties and this one is simply an outdated motel surrounded by a Hyatt like lobby and common areas. Having been here twice since the first of the year, I find most of the staff are helpful, pleasant and courteous but the rooms are outdated, noisy and the housekeeping isn't worthy of a one star hotel. Parking is inadequate in the golf course rooms and the "resort fee" will add 5-15% to your base room rate.

Room Tip: If you stay here get a room on the golf course; many of the farther out rooms are within 100 feet of...

We purposefully booked a nicer hotel to really enjoy our trip to Monterey, and although the rooms appear nice (at first) and the grounds are beautiful, it did not take long to find some major flaws! As soon as we tried to turn on the AC, it did not work, so we called front desk and were told that they do not provide this feature in the rooms, unless requested!!!!! I told them that I have never heard of such a thing, and they did change us to a room with a PORTABLE AC ( which we were told was normally a $40 charge, but they waived). The portable AC was so noisy, we shut it off, and opened the window instead! What a waste of stay...we could only handle staying one night here! Next time stay at the Hilton

I stayed for a week for a conference at the Naval Postgraduate School located a walkable distance across the street. That was the first of many huge plusses with this place. On the outside, the place looked a bit dated, and I was hesitant that the rooms might be older and poorly kept, but that completely was untrue. At least in my building....this resort is pretty spread out over a few differnet buildings. My room overlooked the pool and some of the golf course. No balcony, but still very nice. The grounds were truly one of the most pleasant hotel settings I have ever been on--well set back from the main roads and very tranquil. The lobby was spacious and airy and led right into a sunken lounge area or out to the patio overlooking the golf course. There was an excellent fire pit/gazebo out there as well.

A couple nights I ate in the hotel sports bar restaurant. I had a couple really good items and a couple that were blah. But the beer was cold and for the Monterey area, everything was surprisingly affordable. I don't think there's too much within walking distance, but 'downtown' wasn't too long of a car trip.

The room features were good to excellent. The showers were awesome, plenty of heat, height, and pressure (oftentimes missing in CA). The bed was just about perfect...nice and firm with about a dozen pillows to choose from. Parking was free, I don't recall about wi-fi (it probably had a fee, but mine was waived), and this place usually has an additional resort fee, but wasn't charged with the government rate. So the fees that usually add up and make me mad weren't there on this trip. I didn't require any extra service, but check-in and -out were pleasnt and quick--all I could ask. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

This is a very nice hotel with good facilities. I stayed here for two nights on the 5th and 6th May 2012. The hotel has a resort fee, payable when checking out. My itinerary stated the resort fee would be $15 per night for the period that I was staying. However I was charged $20 per night, total of $44 including tax for the two nights.
This is a complete rip-off, if you are a golfer then may be you can justify the charge as you get -
In-room bottled water
Local phone calls
Retail discounts at the gift shop and golf and tennis pro shop
Complimentary golf bag storage
Complimentary self-storage laundry
Resort games
Tennis court time

For the time I was there I was only able to make use of the in-room bottled water. $44 is a lot to pay for two bottles of water.

Avoid this hotel if you don't like being ripped off.
