the hotel is relatively new and beautifully decorated. the location, in the middle of Cannery Row, was touristy but offered convenient access to Monterey, Carmel, and area attractions including hiking, water sports, golf and cycling in addition to shopping and fine dining. once in awhile, you have an experience that exceeds expectations by a wide margin, and this hotel fell in that category for us.

Room Tip: water front was exponentially more expensive. we selected a king in the annex, and it was quiet and...

It might have just been the room we were given, but our experience at the Clement was one of the best we've had anywhere.

PROS:
• location location location
• room and bathroom were very clean, larger than expected, and very quiet despite the fact that our sliding glass doors opened out onto a public deck area
• elegant little touches throughout, such as the live orchid and extra little amenities in the bathroom
• two bathrobes and coffeemaker in room
• outlets by the bed! hallelujah!
• friendly and well-mannered staff [JT and Sebastian were especially helpful and courteous]

CONS:
• driveway/valet area is small and can therefore be quite hectic
• pool is just a narrow little lap pool

My wife and I had a road trip from San Francisco to San Diego,We decided to break up the drive by stopping overnight in the Monterrey/Carmel Area.We chose this Hotel based on reviews here as well as its location on cannery row .After a long day driving the coast we arrived to find a Beautiful Hotel sitting in a very cute town. From the moment we arrived the valet was extremely helpful as was the staff at the front desk.We were checked in by Brittany who we felt made us feel like we were regulars there. She advised us of of a great place to dine as well as a tour at the Aquarium right next door . She also upgraded us to a room with a king size bed which was Very comfortable with high quality linens that made for a great nights sleep. The room itself could have been a bit bigger but other than that no real complaints. We will definitely stay here again .

My family & I stayed 2 nights in this great hotel. Perfect location to explore Monterey's attractions: directly on Cannery Row, famous aquarium next door, Monterey Wharf a short 20 mins walk along the coast, Carmel-by-the-sea only a 15 mins drive.

Room with 2 double beds and gas fireplace was spacious, modern and very clean. Lobby, bar area and outside terrace are inviting.
Staff at reception was very friendly. All in all a very pleasant and relaxing stay. We would stay there again.

N.B.: Valet parking is expensive ($21/d), but was more or less the only option

Booked 2 nights here and thought it was good value for money with a bit of luxury. The rooms are lovely, with real orchids, a fireplace (mine anyway, as I got an upgrade!) and very spacious. Very comfortable beds with high quality linens, bathrobes etc.Large bathrooms and its all you could wish for. Great location on the front and nice bar with Happy Hour drinks between 4 and 7pm. My only gripe in an otherwise great stay, was the charge for WIFI....if McDonalds and lots of small places can give you it, why cant IHG?

Room Tip: Try to stay in main building as I stayed in building across street which was a hassle and a long way...

Went mid week and thru Priceline so got a relatively great deal on a room. New feel ( less than 5 years). Very modern rooms and bathroom is huge.

I think every room has a fire place big plus
Pool is really just one lane gym is decent.

The downstairs lounge overlooking the ocean with fire pits is awesome.
And it's smack dap in cannery row so walking distance from aquarium, shops etc.

A short drive from fisherman a warf.

We have just returned from a trip to California travelling from San Francisco along the coast to LA. We stopped in Monterey at this hotel for two days and what a great decision it was. We loved the hotel. it was comfortable friendly with a great location and views. A tip for anyone staying use the bar between 4pm and 7pm which is happy hour and includes some half price meals from the menu. If we travel to the USA again we will return to the Intercontinental.
