We stayed here to attend the Rose Parade and I can recommend this hotel for that purpose. The shuttle took us to the Metro station which was quite easy to navigate. The metro stop closest to our grandstand was only one stop away and the walk was not bad.
The hotel also did not have a long (if any) minimum stay like the ones in Pasadena do, nor did their rates appear to be quite so jacked up. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were quite attractive. The pool area was nice though we did not use it. The restaurant was fine.
The quirky part was the rooms. Though beautifully designed, there were some practicality issues. We had two rooms. One was fairly standard though it did not have a bathtub and I'm not sure I was aware of that when I booked it. For us, that was fine but might be an issue if you had small children.
The other room was a King Suite with a jetted tub. Very impressive when you first walk in! As we tried to use the bathroom, though, there were some practical issues. The tub is open to the living/sleeping area. There is a curtain you can pull for privacy. There was also no door to the bathroom. Again, just a curtain for privacy. Even with the curtains pulled, however, every sound in the bathroom can be heard throughout the room.
The bathtub itself was relaxing and deep. Perhaps a bit too deep. I am short and it took quite an effort to climb in and out. In fact, I earned a few bruises trying. And, while at first we thought there might not be a shower, there was. It was in the ceiling over the tub. Once again, very impressive to look at but when we turned it on, water went everywhere! The nozzles were not directed straight down and that whole side of the bathroom was soaked with puddles on the floor. After the climb into the tub, it was possible to shower but I felt very sorry for housekeeping though I tried to mop up what I could.
There was a HUGE flat screen TV in the room that you could watch from the tub/shower---as long as you were willing to keep that curtain open and yourself exposed. There were also two nice sitting areas with couches and a desk and the view of the mountains was spectacular.
Parking was adequate and the area was fine.
A nice hotel but I wouldn't spring for the King Suite again.
