We ate here in mid-afternoon. The resteraunt was a bit warm with windows open and fans running. Not sure if the AC was broken but they could used one. Food was a little above average and the waittress was very attentive. Prices are good and beer was cold!

I ate at El Jefe on three separate occasions during my recent stay in Mojave. Though the menu is somewhat limited, the food is quite good and the portions are more than plentiful. I had two different wet burritos, both of which were enormous, and the huevos rancheros, which were fantastic. Service is quick and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant itself is a converted Wendy's, so the environment is a bit lacking, but otherwise the place is great.

The food was pretty good. I had my first chili rellino there and it was tasty. The staff was really kind, and tried hard to make our dining experience nice. The only down side was how the inside looked. It was clean, but the building is old and so are the furnishings. Could do with some remodeling. The rating I'm giving is based somewhat on how the placed looks. Still don't let that keep you from trying their food. I plan to go back and eat there in the future.

Pleasant staff, but nachos (to go order) were completely covered with fake orange glue which soaked everything. The buried chicken chunks were salty and qualified as mystery meat. Lots of black olives but nothing else recognizable. Too bad. With Mike's Roadhouse now closed, there is nothing in Mojave but drive-throughs.
