The Mojave Trail is hard to Find if you're not looking for it. You're best bet is to look it up on a map, then when you get in the area, you'll start seeing signs on the sides of roads with directions, placards and descriptions. Very scenic. Slow going, offroad. 4x4 recommended. Pre-runner truck or low-clearance 4x4 car would be ok. I went in a Range Rover with all terrain tires and didn't ahve any problems except for one hill that took two attempts at it. Bypass route was available. Lots of sand, most of it is packed, but some is soft and you need to be familiar with driving in soft sand or you can get stuck.
