“Very nice, Clean Rooms”
Reviewed December 15, 2008

Loved the Springhill Suites. We stayed here for a soccer tournament in Turlock. The only downside was that there wasn't anything to eat within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms were clean, the hotel was clean, the beds were comfy, and the staff was very nice and helpful. I had a problem my room one night and they were quick to change rooms for us the next day. Very accommodating.

  • Liked — Very clean rooms. Comfy beds.
  • Disliked — No restaurants within walking distance.

Hard to think of anything that wasn't outstanding about this hotel! Super fast and friendly check in/out. 2 queen beds and a small living area were perfect for our family of 3. Iron and ironing board in the room to touch up our wardrobe before the wedding.

Free Internet in the room! Free parking! Free coffee 24/7! Free breakfast! Okay, the eggs weren't great (I think they were powdered). But the breakfast area was large enough and well supplied to handle sequential waves of Little Leaguers while I huddled in the corner.

I loved the clean decor with the aqua and lime green colors and the water wall in the lobby. Super close to the freeway, but we couldn't hear any noise.

Marriott has a winner in this chain - I will search for others on my travels!

  • Liked — roomy, well -decorated, clean room
  • Disliked — the eggs at breakfast

I stayed here on business for a six-week period from May - June 2008 during the week, leaving on weekends. The rooms I had were all well maintained and had separate sitting areas and a mini kitchen area with sink, refrigerator, cupboards, and microwave. Housekeeping usually provided a set of shrink-wrapped paper plates & utensils in the cupboard.

The desk staff was very pleasant and always welcomed me with a smile and greeting each evening. On one occasion I needed photocopies and a stapler and they were very accomodating.

The hotel has a breakfast buffet each morning with some type of egg dish, ham or sausage, make your own waffles, cereal, pastries, fruit, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. None of it was spectacular but all was adequate and they kept the area serviced and clean. I was impressed with it the first couple of weeks, but after six weeks of the same couple items in rotation it got pretty old (this is not a ding against the hotel, more a complaint that I was stuck in Modesto for six weeks!).

This is a Marriott property and one of my coworkers who stayed at the more expensive Marriott in town said this Springhill property was newer and much nicer than the Marriott.

I would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Clean, well maintained rooms with separate sitting/work area and mini-kitchen
  • Disliked — Not in the best part of town, although I did not have any problems

This hotel is new, very clean & just gorgeous. The lobby is beautiful. It has lots comfy of seats and coffee/water/fruit always available. Our room had 2 queens & a sofa bed which my daughter slept on. The room has an unusual layout in that the sofa and desk are almost entirely separated from the bed area. It makes it tricky for everyone to watch TV at the same time but if you weren’t using the sofa bed as a bed, it would be fine. There is a wet bar area with fridge, microwave, sink, coffee maker with real mugs and cups! One small downer was the lack of a freezer section in the fridge which meant I could not re-freeze the ice blocks for my cooler.

The bathroom was very clean. The vanity area was outside the actual bathroom which has its good and bad points. The bathroom itself lacks any storage space for one’s clothes or toiletries except for the top of the toilet or sides of the bath. You also need to be very organised when entering the bathroom. If you forget your soap & don’t realize until you’re in the shower, that’s too bad! Housekeeping put the soap and shampoo OUTSIDE the bathroom in the vanity area.

There are also two closets in the room which are nice to keep your suitcase in. They’re out of the way and keep the room looking tidy. The hotel has free wi-fi or wired internet. I managed to connect quite easily and didn’t have many problems with the connection.

The breakfast is wonderful. There are three different hot choices (eggs, bacon and sausages), cook your own waffles, 5 different types of cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cottage cheese, cold boiled eggs, various toast/bagels/muffins, three types of juice and 3 types of coffee. There is also real milk in half pint cartons which is very handy for taking back to your room for the in-room coffee.

The swimming pool is situated outside like many Californian hotels. I’m not sure if it was heated….my daughter said it was quite cold on an 80 degree day. There are only a couple of lounges and chairs so I would assume it could become quite crowded on a summer’s day.

While the hotel is situated quite close to the freeway, the only time I heard any noise was while sitting in the pool area. Otherwise, I heard nothing (except the elephants in the room above me).

  • Liked — The general cleanliness of the whole place
  • Disliked — No freezer in fridge
