Great service. Prime rib is superb. Calamari appetizer recommended. Excellent drink / wine selection. Little expensive but worth it.

“Overpriced”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

We recently went to Dewz before planning to attend a movie at the State Theater. The movie started at 7:00 and we arrived at Dewz at 5:30. We were asked if we had reservations. It was a Monday night, so we did not. They said they were booked but we could eat in the bar area. That was fine. We were given an appetizer menu and wine menu. We waited for quite some time before our server came over and we asked for the dinner menu. It had the same appetizers listed. Until I see what is on the dinner menu, how will I know which appetizer I might want that will make a nice pairing? We ordered wine, which is served in mini carafes and poured by every person who walks by, interrupting conversation. Our bread was brought by yet another server. We ordered a mesclun salad to share, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. It was basically a bagged mix with 2 small croutons and 2 slivers of tomato. It was fine, but not a $10 salad. I ordered the special mahi mahi, which arrived another 30 minutes later (we knew at this point the movie wasn't going to happen). The fish was approximately 3 oz on a pile of rice with one stalk of broccolini. My husband looked and laughed. This is a $30 entree? His pasta was a nice portion and tasty, but again, not a $28 dish. We ordered another glass of wine and went through the whole pouring into the carafe and then the glass again, and a multitude of servers pouring small amounts into our glasses. We finally just poured all the wine into our own glasses, just to avoid this pretentious show. The ambiance was nice, even in the bar. The hostesses and servers were polite, if not a bit stuffy. The food was decent. My problem is that we have traveled the world and have had some very nice dining experiences, some fine dining, many more casual but memorable meals, and have eaten more than our share of fantastic street food. I want to walk away from a meal excited to have eaten it, not saying, "Wow that was pretentious and not a $130 experience." There is a fine line between good service and feeling like you are on a cruise ship with too many people vying for your tip.
