“Quaint dining experience”
Reviewed June 27, 2014 via mobile

What a wonderful experience. Arrived from a long day of travel at 9:30 pm at the end of their normal dinning period. They showed no hesitation to serve us great Irish dishes. The fish and chips were enough for two and included a bowl of mashed green peas. Service was great. All personnel were gracious and wanted you to have a great dinning experience. We will go back soon.

“Lively Suburban Pub”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

Good atmosphere. Lively patrons and table service is very good.
This is one of those restaurants, where small tight seating may not be for everyone, especially after trying to find a parking spot. There is valet parking.
Menu is a little pricey but the lobster pot pie is worth the price.
Wine list is middle of the road.Matches up to the pub atmosphere. Try the beer.

They make a great Ruebin sandwich. Full bar and food service at the bar. parking can be tough and valet is pricey.

“Inexperienced Staff and Health Safety Oblivious”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

This is my second visit to this sharp dressed gastro pub in Mission Viejo. While the food remains excellently prepared and tasty - although a little slow out of the kitchen this night, the owners would benefit from 2 things.

1. Hire experienced bar and wait staff. What's with the inexperienced kids (primarily females) behind the bar and in the dining room? Tight jeans with smart phones tucked in the back pocket is really not a match for the baby boomer clientele that patronize this place. On this visit I sat at the bar and had a front row seat to inappropriate staff banter, reading drink recipes off a 8 x 11 cheat sheet and inconstant liquor pours. I ordered two rounds of whisky on the rocks and both pours were different - 1.5 oz with a jigger and over 3 oz free pour. I liked the value of the free pour better than the jigger for $12 each. LOL. With the menu prices you are charging I would expect not to have to ask for things like forks and knives that were cleared with a prior course. Water refills should be intuitive and come with ice if that is how you started... I could go on and on with regard to service and I'm not speaking of fine dining.

2. TRAIN YOUR STAFF ON REASTAURNT HEALTH/SAFETY - don't use dirty hands to touch the business end of forks, straws and glassware. don't use bare hands to fill glasses with ice (bar back). Don't touch cash and then touch fresh herbs, lemon or lime for a drink garnish. While it may seem petty, it shows you and your staff are well trained, aware and care about your guests safety.

Finally, train your bar staff on drink comp policy - if you have one. As a paying customer, it's not cool to observe special treatment by a bartender for one guest (free drinks) while the public pays for smaller pours and slower service.

“A bit of the old sod......”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Dublin 4 is a wonderful, delightful Irish pub (lively bar) with great food. We have been there numerous times and have never been disappointed. The lamb burger is exceptional as is the fish and chips. Of course, Guinness on tap (and poured correctly) and the meal-ending Irish coffee is a perfect finish to a great evening. Reservations strongly recommneded. Parking may be an issue.
