“Not the comfortable quality hotel I expected”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

USMS booked many rooms in various hotels for swimmers participating in Masters Swimming Nationals in Mission Viejo aug 7-11, 2013. I picked this hotel as one of the finest available. Boy was I wrong! It was mediocre in every respect plus the beds were uncomfortable and the AC was so loud I cldnt sleep well and had to turn it off.the restaurant was basically a small area used for breakfast. The food and wine were not good. I wish I had stayed in a Hilton where everything may be standard, but good standard, like Starbucks.

Dear H2marcia -

Thank you very much for your candid review of our hotel. I was so sorry to hear that your stay with us was anything less than exceptional. Generally guests find our decor and service a welcome difference from larger chain hotels, but we understand this may not be appealing to every guest and I apologize that we were not able to make a more favorable impression. We hope you will still consider staying with us in the future.

Regards,

Great location for Disney, LA and San Diego. Nice area on edge of mountains. Good retail outlets close by. Hotel very clean with good size rooms, friendly helpful staff. Small but well maintained enclosed pool area and good ample parking. Would recommend for family vacation but need to keep hold of small children as road close to pool area. Would happily book again.

My family and I stayed here for a week during our So. Cal. vacation. We wanted to go to Disney, Universal, Newport Beach and San Diego. The location could not have been better--20 min N to Disney or Newport Beach, 45 min. N to Universal, and an hour S to San Diego. Traffic was not a problem, as we always used the HOV lanes.
The hotel itself was beautiful, well cared for, and the staff was always 110% accomodating. Breakfast was about the best I have seen in any hotel where breakfast was included. Every morning, there were make-your-own waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc. We got by with a midday snack every day, then we had a light dinner or late dessert, since our main meal was at breakfast.
This is the first Ayres hotel we have stayed at, but it certainly won't be the last.

Loved the hotel & I will definitely stay again. The staff was so friendly & you feel you are friend returning home. The rooms were lovely and the bed so comfortable. the pool well kept and relaxing. I got a great deal on Hotwire $99.00 a night sight unseen. Could not do better & I was close to Laguna - for the art festival. Most hotels $200 & up.
Free wi if, free parking & free breakfast- just great. Loved the courtyard with fire pit and met several other travelers. Highly recommend. great value.

Dear Rob -

It was a pleasure welcoming you recently. Thank you so much for your kind words and for choosing us for your visit. I am so pleased to learn that you found your stay comfortable although it sounds as if our pillows in that particular room may need replacing. Rest assured I have shared your comments with the Housekeeping Team to investigate this issue. Thank you again and please consider us the next time you are in the area.

Sincerely,

Loved our recent stay at Ayers Hotel and Spa in Mission Viejo. Got a great rate on Priceline for $105/night and worth every penny. Great made-to-order breakfast and really comfy beds. Everything clean and professional staff. We enjoyed chatting by the firepit in the courtyard on the warm summer evenings but never made it to pool or spa so can't comment on those. Appreciate the fridge and the microwave in the room to store snacks and beverages and heat up coffee.
