This restaurant is located in a place called Barber Court which is shopping center near several airport hotels and tech centers. This shopping center caters to the Asian population as most of signs and menus are in characters. Walking around we felt like we were in Asia which we liked very much but were unsure of where to eat and what we would order once we got inside. Penang Garden was one of the few restaurants that had some English posted on their menu outside. They had a dinner special which took the guess work out of it for us so we decided to eat there. This restaurant specializes in Singapore/Malaysian food which neither of us have ever had. Atmosphere is casual.
Our main entrée was the Green Curry which was absolutely fabulous, we both agreed it might be one of the best dishes we ever had. It was spicy but not hot and had a rich buttery taste to it. We never had anything named curry that came close to tasting like this. It was great!
The dinner also came with a huge bowl of Yum Tom soup, some kind of dipping thin bread, Satay which is skewered meat, rice, and fantastic seasoned string beans.
Service was very accommodating and they were happy to help us.
Highly recommend and will be back, in fact we are trying to figure out a way to get back to San Jose to eat here again right now!
