The room I got was clearly different from the pictures. The bed was saggy and there were stains on the carpet. I would not recommend this hotel.
Free WiFi that's actually good enough to watch Youtube. That's a first for a hotel...
Huge parking lot.
Hotel bar open until late even on july 4th.
Breakfast was alright. Free but mostly toast and bagels.
May be considered a bit far away from downtown San Francisco (about 20 minutes by car, and there is a train station a kilometer or two from the hotel).
Good but a bit noisy AC
Room a bit on the small side but whatevs, this wasn't a homebody trip.
Trains honking like oversized harmonicas passing by just outside the window several times an hour, twenty-four-seven. We must have been jetlagged enough to manage to sleep anyway but sensitive people take heed! It was really loud.
This hotel has everything you need. Spacious, quiet, comfortable beds, very friendly staff, free shuttle 24-7 and 10 minutes from the airport, free breakfast, restaurant, pool, great gym open 24-7. Excellent hotel and excellent rates. I have been staying here often 1-2 nights, for 20 years. Mahalo Nui Loa and A Hui Hou.
Best Western El Rancho is a good option to stay near the SFO airport and park the car while traveling. We paid around $180 for one night’s lodging plus 14 days parking. Parking alone costs about that much in local lots. Our room was spacious room and updated, but a little worn. Accessing outlets to charge our electronic devices was a problem. Most available outlets were already in use. We did find an outlet under the AC unit that required reaching into a space 2 inches high and 6 inches deep.
The food was surprisingly good but cold. Omelet puffs, muffins, croissants were wrapped to grab and go for those in a hurry. Bagels and bread for toasting, instant oatmeal, bananas and apples were also available. The Zen Peninsula next door had great Chinese food, but was a little on the expensive side.
The shuttle to the airport was on time. Upon return, it took 45 minutes to reach our car after calling for the shuttle, but it seemed like forever because we were so tired after flying to SFO from the Middle East.
We stayed here 2 different times within a week solely because of its location near the airport/BART station and 24 hour shuttle. The first time we arrived at about 10PM Pacific time (1AM Eastern) and were tired. We wound up with a room way in the back near the railroad tracks and the trains echoed throughout the night. The room was small but clean and we had to repack for our road trip so things were tight. The room was accessible by elevator but the property was a little tired and could use a little TLC. The hotel does a sleep and fly deal for locals so the parking lot in the back was jammed. We were heading north via car for a few days and had planned to spend the last 3 nights here upon our return and take the BART to town. We changed our minds after the first night and opted to eliminate the first two and stay only for the last night since we had to leave at 4AM to catch our flight. This was one of the few hotels that had a shuttle that early.
The second visit was MUCH better. We had requested a room in the front part of the hotel--ground floor and it was much nicer and quieter (buffered by the other buildings). The shuttle was on time (suprisingly full at that hour) and got us on our way.
For an early flight airport hotel and probably for a sleep/fly it is fine.
This hotel is very close to SFO. This makes it a great getaway point for an early morning flight. They have a shuttle service that runs 24 hours/day. This helps, also.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, it is a tired property that has seen better days. It isn't that it is a dump, but it needs some help.
