This is our second time staying at the Dylan hotel at SFO.
We came back because the quality, value, location and the staff members like Helen who made us feel like home.
We'll keep coming back.
The hotel comes with a shuttle from SFO and free breakfast.
It's close to nice restaurants, shopping and the most convenient thing is that is only 2 blocks from the Bart station and Cal Train.
You can get anywhere in the Bay Area from here without a car.

I stayed here with my wife on 2 separate nights last month & chose Dylan because it was my idea of an "airport hotel".

First off, breakfast starts at 6am. You can make your own waffles, there's hardboiled eggs, fresh fruit & cold ham, pretty good for "continental". The overall ambience is small & cosy but the kitchen staff work hard to keep tidy & replenish the food.

The free airport-to-hotel shuttle bus was unpredictably late on our first arrival night (see my transport tip), but all was forgiven when we met charming Mike at the frontdesk. He obviously enjoys his work & meeting people, despite manning busy phones & sorting out contingencies all night. The world will be a better place with more people like him !

Since we didn't need to rent a car for our 1-2 nights stopover, Dylan was an excellent choice for us to explore downtown SF via the Bart train system, just 5 mins away on foot. Closeby in a local mall, we were also able to locate a nice Chinese restaurant (called 5 Stars) serving reasonably-priced, authentic Asian meals.

And as others have mentioned, for a price, the Dylan offers you newer rooms for more space, privacy & quieter views (our upgrade faced the morning sun & train tracks but we slept very well at night). What more can you ask for in an airport hotel ?

Room Tip: When you are catching the free bus shuttle from SFO Airport to Dylan, be sure to dial the hotel'...

We found the Dylan a perfect spot for a three-day trip to San Francisco. Hotels in the city were either out of our budget or appeared to be of questionable quality. Having had one bad experience in the Marina district I checked carefully this time for a place that offered a reasonable price, a good room and a convenient location. I found all three at the Dylan.

I was a little nervous after checking Google street view but my fears were completely unfounded. The building is of concrete block construction and appears to date from the 1950s or ‘60s, but the block adds to the soundproofing and, when combined with the new double-pane windows and dual-sliding doors on our balcony room, outside noise was almost inaudible. The single rooms are small by new hotel standards and there is no pool, but this is not a destination resort or conference center. It is a place for a good night’s sleep near the airport or when visiting the area. There is a small patio area with outdoor furniture where you can enjoy the late afternoon breeze. Renovations seem to be on going as we saw workmen making a major overhaul in one of the other rooms.

Our room was one of the “deluxe” ones in the upper rear with two double beds. It appeared to have been recently re-decorated and furnished as there wasn’t a scratch, dent or mark to be found anywhere. The room was of ample size for two adults and two kids.

The space was white-glove clean and odor-free. Being 6’ 4” tall, I appreciated the shower head being high enough that I could stand under it without ducking; a rarity. Second-floor hotel rooms are always too warm for me, and the A/C worked well to cool it down to a comfortable temperature for sleeping. It's noise was not above average for such units. Parking — a big problem in the Bay Area — was tight but ample with some spaces under cover at the rear. We did not see the lot full during our stay.

A breakfast is included and while they did not serve hot items such as eggs, sausage and the like, there was ample selection to fit our tastes. There was a waffle maker, cereals, fruit, yogurt, assorted pastries, cold cuts and cheese, hard-boiled eggs, juices and coffee. I think most anyone could find something there to start the day.

Mike, the front desk man, was cheerful and offered much good advice for our day trips into the city. The Bart station is a short walk out the back of the hotel, across a street and about 150 yards to the entrance. (BART fares for four people probably added up to more than the cost of downtown parking but it was worth it to skip the aggravation of driving in and looking for a spot.)

There is a Walgreen’s drug store and a Lucky supermarket right across the street and numerous restaurants can be found along the main avenue.

In sum, the Dylan exceeded our expectations and we can recommend it to others who need similar accommodations.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms on upper floors toward the rear are more spacious.

The location, hotel room, and check in and out times are excellent. On the other hand, we found the office staff to be a little rude and impatient. Our flight had been canceled after the SFO crash and clearly things were hectic. They didn't seem to have much time for helping their customers. As I said, the room and location are very good, so is the airport shuttle. The price is a little high in my opinion.

We stayed here solely for access to SFO the next morning. Rooms were basic, but clean. Good water pressure and friendly staff. The airport shuttle was on time and efficient. Good airport access. There is a complimentary breakfast bar in the morning that is pretty well equipped. Coffee and tea are available all the time.

Room Tip: Rooms were a little noisy, not the best sound insulation, bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper

Between staying airport overnight or booking a hotel, i am so glad i make the choice to stay in the Dylan. Free pick up from airport, free internet, free breakfast, and a 24-hr convenient store around made my stay even more comfortable. I would like to express my appreciation on Mike, the night manager, who let me work in the lobby during late night to fight for my jet lag and offer me a nice yogurt that i don't need to run on empty machine. Finally, i am glad that i made the decision to stay there where i received 5-star hotel hospitality. Thank you the Dylan.

We stayed here as a family of 7 in two rooms after a long flight from London. There is a shuttle to collect from the airport which works very well. From the outside we took a bit of a double take! But when we arrived to our rooms we were blown away. Beautiful clean rooms with good space and lovely clean bathrooms. Conveniently located with restaurants and BART nearby. Unfortunately BART on strike when we arrived but we were able to walk to station and take a train to AT&T park. Breakfast area was too small for amount of rooms, however it had everything you could want and all included in price. Definitely recommend this place to anybody travelling to or from San Francisco. Great value for money.
