Convenient location. 5 minutes walk to a Mall. Close to Stanford. We went for food in the mall at night. The room is clean and new. There is a pool which looks nice but we did not have time to enjoy. People are frendly. Parking available for free.

Door was not properly sealed allowing much street noise. Also one of the secondary staff dropped paper coffee cups on the floor, then put them in the storage cabinet to be used later. The staff was very helpful and professional, was just the noise issue and the food handling person who were the problems.

Dear Trip Advisor Member,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your experience with us. I apologize for the street noise issue, please know that the problem with the door was addressed right away by the maintenance staff after having been notified. I have also revised the training policy with our breakfast attendant to ensure we are maintaining sanitary conditions in our breakfast area. Thank you for bringing these items to my attention. We hope to have you stay with us again on your next visit to the area.

Best regards,

The staff was very accommodating in getting us the best rate since we were in the area for medical procedures at Stanford Medical Center. The room was clean and comfortable. It was noisy during the night since the motel is right on a busy street and we were both woken up several times by a train whistle. The parking for this hotel is less than adequate for the amount of rooms here, especially since parts of the hotel are being remodeled. We ended up parking next door and lugging our bags over and up the stairs.

We live in another state and came to Palo Alto to visit Stanford University on a college trip. We prefer to use mass transit to get around, and the Best Western Riviera was located only a half mile walk from the train/bus station for Palo Alto. It was a pleasant walk to and from the motel (with restaurant and shopping along the way) in order to get to the train/bus station (where we could catch a free shuttle to the main part of the Stanford campus or a bus/train to the airport). The complimentary breakfast was very good, with many hot and cold choices. The rooms included individual patio dining. With the area full for homecoming weekend at Stanford, this was a good choice to stay.

I have come away a fair bit disappointed from the BWPRiviera after a five night stay.

What was good:
- Internet was fast.
- Staff was good/ polite.
- the pool looked very nice and clean but i didnt get time to swim.
- It is 100m from the stanford shopping center parking and a mile from palo alto university avenue.

What didn't work:
- In 209$/night, I would expect a better sleep quality. You can hear all the traffic all the time. I moved into 217 only to request a move inwards (got 215!) which didn't help. This was my biggest grouse- thisis something the staff cannot solve.
- The breakfast was rather limited. Beverages (tea, coffee, fruit infusedwater etc), milk/cereals, waffles, frozen burger and frozen hard boiled egg. The last item was my mainstay!! Nothing was freshly made except the waffle.
- The gym is rather sparse but thats okay I guess for this range.
- Unlike other motels that have frozen food to purchase, these guys had none. The nearby restaurants (oasis) are hopeless. So getting hungry late evening here is a bad idea!!

I may stay here again the future because of nearness to office only - no other reason.

Hello maddash-traveler,

Thank you for taking the time to tell the Trip Advisor community about your experience at our hotel. We appreciate all of your feedback. Unfortunately we are unable to do much about the amount of road traffic and noise on El Camino Real but we do plan on addressing the breakfast during our renovations which will include an expanded and renovated seating area and expanded breakfast offerings including fresh fruit salad and fresh baked pastries. We hope to see you again soon, thank you again for your time.
