This is the nicest hotel in the Valley, but 280 views and noise do tend to intrude on an otherwise fantastic getaway experience. THe rooms are fantastic in casita like buildings. Restaurant is fine, though not extraordinary. The gym and spa are great. Way better than the stanford park or the garden court and more convenient to Sand Hill than the Four Seasons

Perhaps the best hospitable hotel in the San Francisco-San Jose area for dogs.

Food, rooms, common facilities, and guest services are terrific!
The Sense Spa is really wonderful!

Prices have increased since its opening April 2009.
The wine list is poor considering the quality of food services.
Corporate management in Texas are responsible for this property slipping in these ratings.

We stayed for one night at the Rosewood Hotel. It was wonderful. The service was perfect. The rooms were huge and beautiful. The bathrooms were fantastic. The bath tub and shower incredible. I loved the soaps and lotions and the fancy TV system. I worked out this morning at the gym. I was the only person there... the spa was open and I was able to use the Sauna as if I was at a private spa. Breakfast was fantastic. Really this is a wonderful place. I do not understand how anyone could be dissapointed staying here.

Conveniently located (if you are doing business on Sand Hill Road), this hotel seems to aspire to be a combination of a high-end urban hotel and a country spa, goals that seem to clash in the execution.
The good: generously-sized rooms, with very nice bathroom (great bath and great, separate, shower), nice desk, and generally uncluttered feel. My window offered a nice view of mountains in the background, although unfortunately Route 280 was in the foreground.
The mildly annoying: intrusive service (they will drive you to your room in a golf cart even if your room is in immediately adjacent building, then will spend 20', literally, explaining exactly how to use your TV and adjust your lights). In general, the staff seem to be omnipresent and overeager.
The obnoxiously irritating: charging for internet (in the middle of Silicon Valley!! -- I've stayed at nearby places that charge a fifth as much and even they offer free internet); charging for parking (despite that they trumpet the fact they are on something like 16 acres -- so just plain piggish. piggy, piggy, piggy, piggy, piggish).
Overall: Fine place to stay if someone else is paying, or if money is no object. But if you value value, look elsewhere.

Just complete a wonderful stay at the Rosewood Sand Hill with my wife. We were in the area to attend a friends 50th birthday party and we picked the right hotel to stay at. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The hotel is a series of bungalow style buildings that are very quiet and well appointed. We enjoyed a most restful visit. The hotel is located up the hill from Stanford Shopping Center and downtown Palo Alto. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting the area. The facilites are attractive to both leisure and business travelers although we stayed away from the email which was great!

I stayed here in the run up to a triathlon and the place has serious virtues from that standpoint: awesome large heated outdoor pool which is open late, super fitness center and spa, and lots of great routes for biking and running nearby. I went for a trail run in Wunderlich Park which is a short drive away and sports really gorgeous trails complete with beautiful trail horses and their riders. I did not need to rent a bike, but I am sure it could be done in Palo Alto or Menlo. Bike lanes are mostly well-marked.

The Rosewood's drawbacks have been well-noted elsewhere. It's a not very soulful conference hotel by the freeway, but the staff tries hard and I think it is worth pointing out its good points for the nomadic athlete.
