We stayed in Grandma's hideout. The room is small, filled with an excellent bed. The bathroom is Ok. Cleanliness could be improved, especially behind the blinds on the window sills. The breakfast is very good and plentiful but has to be eaten in an uncomfortable setting because there are only 4 seats and a coffee table for at least 10 guests when the inn is full. The inn is next door to Cafe Beaujolais and hence there is no drink and drive problem.

Room Tip: Grandma's hideout is Ok if you want to save some dollars. We have not seen the other rooms but we assume that they are larger.

My GF and I began a Northern California Road trip by driving up from Berkeley to Mendocino, we stayed two nights in the Nicholson House Inn.

The room was clean and well appointed, the bed comfortable, and the location perfect for walking the streets of Mendocino, hiking on the headlands, or going out for morning coffee, afternoon drinks and dinner. Located two steps away from the Sweetwater Spa and Hot tubs, right across the street from Cafe Beaujolais, we parked the car on Saturday and didn't move it again until we left on Monday afternoon.

Although "breakfast" is included in the room price, unless you're content with the food at Holiday Inn Express, you may want to make other plans for the morning. The only down side to our experience was the smell of burnt toast permeating the building between 8:30-9:-30 AM.

Over-all a good value.

We stayed in the Orca room . Comfortable and clean with a very nice feel. We were only there overnight , but enjoyed the many recommendations . Breakfast was terrific and the home made scones were great . Thanks for providing a great value stay

Pulled in without a booking. Was shown to a room straight away despite disturbing the owner out of hours. The room was comfortable, smallish, very cutely decorated, and with a small private bathroom. Bed was tall, four poster and comfortable. Breakfast was a tasty continental with the added bonus of boiled eggs (which i liked). We received helpful recommendations for our evening meal (ate at the pub; great choice). Would definitely stay again.

After the long pretty drive up from SFO on a beautiful day, Brent(?) was very helpful with location info on groceries, restaurants, and all that is Mendocino. The room was comfortable and affordable. Two days in the area followed by the drive down to St. Helena via 128/29 was a very nice escape. I wish I could articulate on the breakfasts but I was out about (Ft. Bragg and state parks) before and during meal time. I did my homework on prices and found The Nicholson House to be one of the less expensive B&B's in the area. I did have a partial ocean view from my room...
