Lovely space, great menu, excellent service, delicious food. It's not right in the heart of town, but the town is so small, just keep walking and you'll find it, and be glad you did.

Our meal and dining experience at Café Beaujolais was very good. The service was professional and timely. And, we appreciated the $20 per bottle corkage fee seeing we brought a bottle of wine we had purchased earlier in the day at an Anderson Valley winery.

The restaurant was kind enough to split our appetizer of dungeness crab cakes on to two plates. Unfortunately, the slaw and scallion vinaigrette served the crab cakes overpowered the taste of the crab. Our entrees of the Filet Mignon and Roasted Sturgeon were both very flavorful and well prepared. The filet was melt in your mouth tender, prepared at medium rare. The sturgeon was served with house made noodles and mushrooms and was very earthy for a fish entrée. For those not taking advantage of the corkage policy, the restaurant's wine list features several local wines at reasonable prices and some are available by the glass.

Dinner here was wonderful. Ordered the spinach salad, Mary's free-range chicken breast, white cheddar risotto, sautéed haricot verts, saffron-chantrelle mushroom sauce and for desert the coconut cream pie. Fresh ingredients, great flavors and wonderful service!

My wife and I have been eating sporadically at the Cafe Beaujolais since Margaret Fox owned it ... almost thirty years. We have accompanied the evolution, and believe it is still unquestionably GREAT.

After having a huge lunch elsewhere we were interested in lighter fare for dinner. My wife chose to order portobello crepes, I the seared Ahi. Both were sumptuous and enough for us. Good artisan bread continues to come from the cafe's bakery. We had a notable 2009 Syrah from Meyer Family Cellers. It's spicy flavor complimented the meal nicely. Unquestionably, and to our surprise, the coconut cream pie for desert was the highlight. We are not dessert people generally, and coconut cream pie isn't our first choice ... but this knocked our socks off.

Over the years the menu seems to have lost the intriguing main courses we remember of the Cafe B. Although it didn't result in making the meal less than memorable, there was actually no main that I was interested in ordering.

Service was excellent, european style, no pressure but attentive. Kudus!

Bottom line: If you are in Mendocino at dinner time and don't eat at least once at the Cafe B, you are really missing something.

The food here was delicious- stand out dish being the duck- perfectly cooked for me. The ambience was lovely and nice and relaxed. Somehow they found out we were on honeymoon (not sure how as i booked on phone and didn't mention it at all- guess it maybe when i had trouble pronouncing my new surname they may have overheard me say something about this?)

(The only tiny negative was the chicken liver parfait was a little too heavy/stodgy (maybe just needed to be a little less cold and then would have been softer))

Probably top 2 meals we have had in California 3 week trip. The creme brulee was also very good.

Having been to a michelin place the night before and left very disappointed we both left thinking now this would be a place deserved of a michelin star!

Loved the room, my perfect restaurant size!
