A few years ago we went to Mendocino for an impromptu vacation and fell upon Brewery Gulch. We have returned several times. We always feel very well cared for. The service is always attentive but relaxed. Most of all we don't even care if it rains all day (which it did this visit). We enjoyed lounging in our room. When the rain did stop we loved sitting out on the spacious deck over looking the cove (from a distance) and enjoying a glass of local wine and hors d'oeuvres. These hors d'oeuvres are satisfying enough that we have, on occasion, skipped going out for dinner.

My daughter and I were on an R&R and stayed one night at BGI. Everyone was over-accomodating and so pleasant. We felt very warmly welcomed and cared for. The room was spaceous and the flowers were a nice touch plus all the extra-special toiletries. However we did expect a view of the ocean and like 2 other Reviewers here said- make a triangle with your fingers and look thru it. I do feel as if I was led to beleieve it was on the ocean or at the very least had a fantastic panoramic view of THE OCEAN. That's a misconception. That said everything else was First Class. Breakfast seated at our own gorgeous teak table was fabulous! The food and the table/presentation was awesome. We did wish there was a fire tho. The food at the wine tasting was outstanding and we sat out on the deck and enjoyed the property and birds, etc. It was the first sunshine on our 5th day of vacation! I particularly loved the history and loving care the owner put into it and appreciated the forget-me-nots and lazy daffodils peppering the grounds. It had rained too much for a lot of flowers which we missed a lot because I could tell this was an important part of their overall feel. I would give this a highly recommended grade and I will definitely be back - want to take my husband but will not have the high expectation of the Ocean view this time. It's absolutely lovely and the town is not to miss! Great shopping but no cell phone service! Ate at The Cafe and it was fab.

My wife and I live in the Bay Area and wanted to get away for a couple of restful days on the north coast. We stayed at the Brewery Gulch Inn after reading a very plus review in Sunset Magazine. We have stayed many times in different places on the coast in the past 30 years and this was the best. We loved our room (Heron), the view, the staff's attention in to detail, and the wine tasting and appitizers was great fun before going out to dinner. The Inn is very close to Mendocino town yet you feel removed from civilization whlie at the Inn. The breakfast was great as well as the service. I would highly recommend the Brewey Gulch Inn for a stay on the Mendocino Coast.

What a terrific hideaway! Really pretty and warm inside, fabulous bathrobes in the closets, a great gas fireplace that heats the room while the doors and windows are open. The staff was friendly, available and just plain NICE, the food was exquisite, and although it rained and poured, we still enjoyed sitting in the lounge area around that great lodge fireplace and just reading, talking, playing cribbage and scrabble and munching on home made snacks left out for us all day long! Great bargain when you include the gourmet full breakfast. We were lucky enough to be there for the 5th anniversary dinner soiree, which, thanks to chef Francois, was phenomenal plus Greenwood Wineries paired all of the wines with the courses and the owner came to describe the wines and why each went with which course. FABULOUS TIME!!

After a day of driving through the valley, this B&B was refreshing. Staff was accomodating, rooms were very clean, breakfast was outstanding, and the glazed rolls for early risers hit the spot! Not to mention the great view of the coast from our room and the dining area! Just open the windows to capture the sound of the surf! And far enough north that you aren't bothered by heavy coast traffic. We loved our stay. Definately will return.

After reading about BGI in Sunset Magazine my husband and I couldn't wait for our long anticipated anniversary trip to the Inn. Our room was sold as an Ocean View which turned out to be a peek a boo view across the road and through the trees. The room was small and felt very motel-esque - nice enough features but not at all warm, comfortable or charming. There are far nicer views and better accomodations in the area for less money. BGI is a classic case of hip and in but not worth it.
