“Solid Inn in Mendocino”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

Nice Craftsman style inn in Mendocino. Nice views from some rooms. Lovely patio overlooking ocean. Heavy hors doeuvres and wine in the evening could be dinner if you so choose. Breakfast is included. Varied choices, but food quality is not outstanding. Rooms are comfortable lodge-style rooms. Close to town.

Room Tip: Osprey and Pelican were nice. Pelican had a better view but was smaller.

Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry that you found the food choices varied but not outstanding. We work hard to provide memorable breakfasts and evening buffets. Our produce, wherever possible, is locally sourced and organic. We employ two chefs with outstanding credentials (Ritz Carlton-San Francisco, Gary Danko and Buchon in Las Vegas). The night you were with us, the evening buffet included thyme and white pepper-rubbed pork tenderloin over a spicy Asian slaw, roast garlic and portabello timbales, broccolini and toasted hazelnuts tossed with walnut oil and Mendocino sea salt, and a dessert of fresh berries with a rum-almond patissier. It would be helpful for future guests if you could email me directly, to the email address we provided to you at checkout, with any suggestions on how we might improve our dining experience.

Just returned from a 5-night stay at Brerwery Gulch Inn, and it was by far the most comfortable and delightful place we have encountered in our many years of visiting the Mendocino coastal area! All of the BGI staff were friendly and very accommodating. The Inn provides everything to make guest comfortable: clean, comfy "great room" with huge metal fireplace and floor to ceiling windows to enjoy great views of the ocean--furnished in craftsman mission-style; made-to-order breakfast (specials differ each day); light supper served with choices of wine, beer, soda, juice; coffee and snacks always available; LOTS of DVDs, games, and magazines to choose from; and an atmosphere of elegant warmth. The food & service were great--no need to venture out unless you want a special meal in town. To cap off our experience, the innkeepers left bottle of champagne in our room upon arrival in celebration of our 35th wedding anniversary. A perfect getaway---well worth the price!

Some might consider BG a little pricey, but you get what you get pay (for). If you want to unwind, get away yet feel at home, and leave with a feeling of, "I can't wait to come back", this is the place. BG has become an annual getaway for us.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at BGI for our 30th wedding anniversary. This was our 3rd time staying there in the past 5 years. Guy, Jo Ann, and the rest of the staff are always warm and welcoming, and ensure that you're completely satisfied and happy at all times. The rooms, service, meals, people, or, in a word, everything about BGI is outstanding! If you're planning a trip to Mendocino, don't think about staying anywhere else!

Absolutely wonderful!
The staff (Guy, Jo Ann, Margi, Mina, Maribel...) are so very kind and have an amazing way of making you feel both pampered and right at home. From the warm and cozy rooms, jacuzzi tubs, amazing beds, always available tea, coffee, freshly baked treats, games, movies, books, blankets, fireplace, patio with a view, recommendations for your daily excursion (or not!)... to whatever else you may need, we always felt more than accommodated for.
And the food! Between Peg and Patrick (the two chefs), they create beautiful, extremely fresh and delicious breakfasts, treats and dinners/desserts to accompany (local) wine hour each night. I was so thankful (and thankfully full) that they asked about any food restrictions and delivered dishes that truly made me feel spoiled and grateful.
It is truly an individualized and kind Inn.
Our first and second stays were a mere 7 weeks apart because we couldn't wait to return!

I came up to Mendocino for a wedding and stayed the weekend at the BGI. The property was beautiful, the rooms were awesome with a homey feeling to them, and the service was top-notch. I would recommend BGI for anyone looking to get away and relax in Mendo!

We loved our stay at Brewery Gulch Inn. Everything was top notch, and I especially appreciated being asked in advance if there were food allergies that needed to be taken into consideration, which they accommodated nicely! The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy, the views breathtaking, and the room was very comfortable. Our only regret was not being able to stay another night.
