The Sweetwater in is located very close walking distance to the center of Mendocino. Offers a number of unique rooms and suites. Their Redwood Tower is a great option for families due to the large size of the space - stayed there previously with my two teen boys and it worked perfectly. Even has a panoramic viewing deck on the roof! Needed two beds this last trip, so stayed for 3 nights in the Country Suite, a single-story room in the main guest building. Great for a couple with a child. The small 2nd bedroom is actually a sun-room with wrap-around windows. Very sunny and open room with small kitchen and dining area. And I'd have to say, the shower in this suite is absolutely one of the best I've every experienced anywhere period! Every room in the Inn is unique. Sweetwater is well-known locally for its popular hot tub and spa. Owners very conscientious of guest comfort, which in our case was very appreciated.

Room Tip: If I was going to stay here as a couple and wanted more space, I'd probably opt for the Sears To...

Our family stayed in the Garden Cottage. They gave us a deal for booking last minute. Friendly staff. Very clean, private hot tub, full kitchen, most comfortable bed, actual woodstove for cozy fire in the evening and secure backyard for the kids to play safely. A short scenic walk to beach, bluffs, shops and great food. Could not improve upon our trip. Mendocino is an easy fun family getaway and Sweetwater is a charming place to stay. We will definately return.

My wife and I were looking for dog friendly lodging in Mendocino and came upon Sweetwater Inn. We had a really great time here and found that Sweetwater held true to the old bohemian legacy of Mendocino before it turned into Carmel. In fact we love Carmel too but there is something nostalgic about the easy going roots of Mendo that Sweetwater really captures. We found the service to be top notch without any pretentiousness. We also visited the clothing optional spa next door to the inn and found it to be clean and comfortable, and my wife got a massage...just what we needed after the long curvy ride up Hwy 128.

Room Tip: I think they are all nice but we found our room in the water tower to be very quite and private with...

We rented the Redwood Cottage. It was out of town about 3/4 mile.Very isolated and private ,it was wonderful for us.They thought of everything in this cottage, everything you need for cooking and robes for the hot tub.We enjoyed our stay so much.My only complaint would be the spider webs on the outside of the cottage.Im very familiar with the humidity (spider love it)as we used to live down the road in Gualala. Being fearful of spiders, they should be cleaned off the outside of the cottage,so it looks more appealing when sitting in the hot tub.Never the less we really liked it there.Would recommend for a romantic get away,we would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We only know the Redwood cottage, very secluded and very quiet, the rest of the rooms are in town and...

Me and my girlfriend went to sweetwater to get some time away and reconnect romantically. Everything seemed really nice at first. We stayed in the sweetwater tower which was a sweet view and they let us have one night instead of their minimum two nights stay. That was cool. However, there was a lot that was not communicated and even some misleading information before hand that made our stay quite unpleasant. Part of the deal with this room is that after 9pm the hot tub becomes private. However, after 9 there were still people talking loud and carrying on. I go down to ask why they havent left yet and I get a response 'oh, well this specific day we stay open another hour. diana never told you?' They apologized and I kinda let it go just so I wouldn't ruin my own night. In the morning when we check out, we were rushed out of our room, very frustrating, so that the cleaners could do their job. We get yelled at for having two beers and food in the room and they charge us a 'cleaning fee'. I understand charging if its excessively messy but Im sorry, thats what you pay them money to do, clean up after you. granted we had some clothes on the floor, and take out boxes around, but nothing was spilled and was not that big of a mess. Will never go here again and will file a better business bureau claim. Could not recommend this place to anyone.

This was my day two stop along coast on my way up from San Diego to Oregon. What a great place to stay. I stayed in the Rivergate room, which was upstairs in the main office part of the hotel. Room had fireplace and very cozy Highlight was the clothing optional hot tub in back of grounds very secluded and private. They provide robes and towels so you can walk up to the spa or you can change up there. Staff was helpful, kind and friendly. Mendocino just a block up from the hotel is such a throwback town, reeking of the heyday of the counterculture era of the 1960's. I also ate right next door at 955, great food and atmosphere! I will definealty come back again ☺

We stayed in the "View West" room. I'd give it a "C-" - ok, but nothing special, especially for $295. On the plus side, it was large and clean. On the negative side, it was described as having a view of the town, when it actually looks down on a road. The bathroom was pretty, but not very functional - the jets on the spa tub were on their last legs (they were so weak, you couldn't tell if they were on). The double shower had only lukewarm water on the left side, and cold on the right (and both were trickles - no water pressure).

There are a number of nicer places to stay in town, and we'd try one of them next time. Sorry - I really wanted to like this place.
