“Lovely home/museum; friendly volunteers”
Reviewed April 3, 2012

From the moment we arrived, my boyfriend and I were welcomed by a friendly volunteer who showed us around and shared the history of the home and the immediate area. She then left us to our own devices to browse around and let us know that if we needed help, she was there. This old home has been turned into a fantastic museum with a lot of information about the logging industry and the Ford family who built the house. A must-see if you're in Fort Bragg or Mendocino.

“Small.”
Reviewed December 26, 2011

Best thing is the village diorama depicting life in old Mendocino and its logging history. Not many displays or artifacts.

“Stop here first”
Reviewed December 4, 2011

A stop at Ford House will get you well-oriented to Mendocino whether for walking, dining or exploring the Town's history and natural environment. Photographic exhibits and a scale model of the Town offer a useful and engaging perspective before you set out to explore the historic buildings and surrounding state park. Before you leave, take a look at the moss growing on the shingled roof of this historic house, now part of our beleaguered state park system, and then drop a few extra $$ at the desk toward needed restoration work.

“Thanks to the LeBlanc!”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

The couple from West New York volunteering at the Ford House (Mr. and Ms. LeBlanc) was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about Mendocino. Thank you to them for their generous contribution.

“Small, but Lots of History”
Reviewed August 19, 2011

A lot of the history in this museum concerns the Ford family, who owned the house and were highly involved in the local lumber industry, starting in the early 1850s. Learn about the early lumbering industry, see lots of artifacts from Mendocino history and the general area. We ran into locals who were reminiscing about working for the lumber company back in the old days. (I'm not calling them elderly, as they were too vital for that!) The model of the town of Mendocino is amazing! Truly a labor of love. There is a suggested donation of $2 per person.
