We loved everything about this inn. The location was great, the room marvelous, and the view from breakfast incredible. Go here for a relaxed, atmosphere with friendly,knowledgable innkeepers. We stayed in the garnet room and loved the private deck with a view of the ocean. Every night we sat on the deck with glasses of the free Sherry and enjoyed a quiet night cap.
I don't really know where to start as the expierence was Absolutely Amazing. Upon arriving to Agate Cove the grounds were as beautiful as any picture ever taken for their website. The grounds were lush and well manicured. The view from most anywhere on the grounds was breath taking. From the beautiful trees, to the rock formations and the never ending ocean. At check in we were greated by both the Inn Keepers Rodger and Lorraine. Two wonderful people that made you feel warm and very pleasnt about your decision to stay with them at Agate Cove. We were given a brief tour of the Inn and then sent to our room (Amber) only to realize that the view was that of the website and their post cards. The room was SPOTLESS and was everything that the website had shared and more. The breakfasts were spectacular and prepared fresh daily. They gave you that feeling that mom had just made breakfast just for you, from the fresh baked scones, fresh fruit and a wonderful variety of entrees from Gingrbread Pancakes to Spinach Quiche. And the view from the dinning room is is Gorgeous. And lets not forget to mention "Nava" the very friendly Border Collie that is the Inn Keepers pet. An experience that I'm so glad my lady and I were able to enjoy. Our first B&B experience but we can't wait to return to Agate Cove.....Just Amazing Experience!!!......06/2013 .....Ernie M.
Fabulous B&B!! The owners Roger & Lorraine were great. Friendly, extremely clean, beautiful rooms, beautiful views, breakfasts to die for! All breakfasts are home made, and the scones and blueberry bread pudding are wonderful. Gorgeous view of Agate Cove from the dining room window and after our horseback riding adventure, enjoyed the spa on the front lawn overlooking the cove. Each room has a different theme and look exactly as they do on the web site. Roger and Lorraine gave us tips on things to do as well as restaurants in Mendocino and the surrounding areas. Beautiful gardens surround the main house and all the rooms. If you haven't been to Agate Cove Inn-don't wait-book as soon as possible!!
Oh Christi, thank you for that great review! We are glad you liked the blueberry bread pudding (we served that today) and our legendary scones. Horseback riding on the Mendocino coast is such a great experience. The trails through the Redwoods then out to the ocean are like no other destination. So glad you have a great trip.
Very nice B&B. The room was great but it is the view that is spectacular. Could see the ocean while laying in bed! The view from breakfast was even more spectacular. Breakfast was good. Not the friendliest owners I have ever seen but certainly more than adequate. Check out their website - one of the best I have seen. Pricey but so is everything else in Mendocino.

We think that we have incredible views as well. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and like our breakfast. We stayed for three nights at the Agate Cove last week, chosen as a result of the reviews on tripsadviser and for the amazing view. The owners, Roger and Larainne were away on vacation, but we were looked after marvellously by Innkeeper Thayes and her sister Dawn, two delightful and friendly ladies.
Our accommodation (Obsidian) was extremely comfortable, the bed amazingly so, possibly the best I have ever slept in and that combined with very soft cotton sheets made for a wonderful nights sleep. That was followed by lovely breakfasts in a dining room that had huge picture windows overlooking the sea. I am running out of superlatives, but think you get the message!!

We know that Thayes and Dawn, our interim innkeepers took good care of you in our absence. They are both excellent in the kitchen and love people! The Obsidian cottage is one of my favorites as well. I love the soft beach colors in that room. The painting above the fireplace (a birthday gift from Roger) is what inspired that rooms decor. Thank you again for taking the time to review us. We spent 4 nites at the Agate Cove in Mendocino and didn't want to leave. The property overooks the ocean and the views are just fabulous. It's a small B&B and each cottage is decorated with a different theme. We stayed in the Amber cottage which had a jetted tub, separate shower, old fashion pot belly fireplace and a private deck with a direct view to the ocean. The room was clean, bed very comfortable and there was no noise from the street. Breakfast was always wonderful. The breakfast room has floor to ceiling windows with fabulous views of the pacific. We also liked that couples could sit by themselves at quaint tables for breakfast making it more intimate versus the long dining room tables that most B&B's have. We looked at several properties for future trips and none compared to Agate Cove Inn. We will definitely be returning.
We were hoping that someone would write about our newly designed breakfast room. Thank you for commenting on that. When we decided to expand the breakfast room and purchase new furniture for it, we thought about what we would like as travelers. We felt that quaint tables for two where both people could face the ocean and giant windows taking in the breathtaking view, were what was needed. We have also kept tables for 4 and the table that seats up to 8 for those special situations when that is called for. Yes, the Amber cottage is a popular cottage. We are so glad you enjoyed it as well. We are blessed to have this spectacular location and are only to happy to be able to share it with others.
