This restaurant is in downtown Mariposa and just a short walk from the Best Western Plus. The décor is contemporary with an understated, elegant flair. Dark wood tables and booths. Neutral walls and floors. Colorful, nature photography. Tables are nicely spaced, affording private conversation even when dining in the middle of the restaurant. Staff in black attire. Bar area with full service. Ample wine list. Nice menu, with a little bit of everything (e.g., appetizers, salads, red meats, chicken, seafood, and pasta), including a selection of entrees for the little ones. Food well-prepared, except that the salad should be tossed in dressing prior to serving -- not sitting in a pool of dressing on the plate. The focaccia bread is warm and light and particularly delicious with the seasoned, balsamic vinegar and oil. Excellent service. Any negatives? Yes, one. It's noisy, making communication with the wait staff challenging at times and adversely impacting one's ability to unwind completely at dinner. A few strategically placed tiles, perhaps, could solve that problem.
