“OK for an overnight stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

Mariposa is a one street town so it is easy to find your hotel/motel. This is an older style motel some sections have two levels others one. Our room was on the ground floor with parking right outside the unit which was of a reasonable size. I would guess that the room had recently been updated but the walls between each room must be so thin that any noise carries through. Also being near Highway 140 there is frequent traffic noise. Bathroom fans while efficient were also VERY noisy. It did not help that a building crew were near us who departed at 05:30. Whilst the room was clean and the beds comfortable it was not pleasant to find the remains of the previous occupants coffee packet in the coffee machine. There are other similar properties in the mountain town which I would try in preference to hear on another trip.

The lodge is located on the main street in the town of Mariposa so it's an easy walk to food and shopping. The parking was crowded but there seemed to be a space for everyone. We arrived late and had to park away from our room. The room was bigger than the usual motel size and had windows on one side and a deck on the other so there was a cross breeze. Two sink bathroom and tub shower. I would stay here again.

Very good place to stay, albeit a little dated. Classic motel style - don't expect luxury - but better than some city hotels we have stayed in. Large room, clean with very comfortable bed. Air con. Microwave and fridge in room. There is a small pool. Perfect for staying overnight whilst out and about visiting the area. Very close to local diners & restaurants. Friendly staff.

The room was very clean and comfortable and the grounds nicely maintained. There are restaurants within walking distance- the Deli Garden Café has great sandwiches and a very friendly yellow Labrador Retriever :-). It's a good value and not too far from Yosemite-I would stay here again.

This is an older, traditional motel that is clean and well-managed. Our room was unusually spacious, especially the bathroom - much different than modern motel rooms with minimal space. Most of the rooms are set well back from the highway, so no noise problems. Almost right across the street are two very good dinner restaurants, with a popular breakfast cafe just down the block. For the price, this is as good a place to stay as you will find anywhere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room farthest away from the street.

Very nice motel, centrally located in Mariposa. Staff helpful and friendly. Room was very clean, bed comfortable. Walking distance to restaurants. We would most definitely stay here again. Good value.

Stayed here for 2 nights based on reviews & location & were very satisfied! We were pleasantly surprised at how large the room was. The bed was extremely comfortable & we slept like rocks! The room was very clean, which is key to getting a good review from me. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in the town & the front desk has a book with menus from each. We enjoyed our meal at Happy Burger so much we got takeout the next night as well (try the teriyaki chicken sandwich, I had it 2 nights in a row).
Now for some tourist tips. We arrived mid afternoon on a Wed and had to leave town by mid afternoon on Friday so we stopped to the visitor center to find out how we could maximize our time there. The woman that helped us said there are 2 MUST SEE destinations: Mariposa Grove of the Giant Sequoias (not in the town of Mariposa) and Glacier Point. She was dead on with this advice. We drove to Mariposa Grove the evening we arrived. We took 49 to the grove...a little over an hour drive. Amazing place to visit....LOVED it! Barely any crowd that late in the day. The next morning we set out for Yosemite Valley. The drive is very twisty & I did not like it. We left at 8:00am and barely encountered any traffic, which was great. Took under an hour to get to the first stop of Bridal Veil Falls (very easy, short paved hike). In the valley we used the free shuttles to hop on & off a few stops then headed towards Glacier Point. It is about 1hour 15min from the valley floor. Again, hated the dizzying drive but when the scene unfolds before you it takes your breathe away. LOVED this place too! We then drove back to the valley & went to the stops we still wanted to see. We really got a lot in, everything we wanted to see. We left the valley around 7:15pm because I did not want to be on the roads after the sun set. Again, very few cars on the road.
Stay here, stop at the visitor center & enjoy your trip. The whole experience was more than we expected.
