“Beautiful location and wonderful service”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

I stayed here for 7 nights while attending a training course. The location was wonderful, our training room opened onto a gorgeous patio that spilled onto the bay beach. The conference room was filled with natural light and being able to step out into the sunlight with an amazing view was fantastic. We had a wonderfully attentive waiter ,Ventura, who graciously looked after us in our conference room every day. He was wonderfully respectful and attentive and made our days easy and pleasurable.

The hotel room was nicely appointed, bathroom a little on the small size but always cleaned well and restocked with toiletries every day. The food in the hotel restaurant was great and there are many other nice restaurants within walking distance as well.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms overlooking the bay are the best.

The Jamaica Bay Inn continues to be my go-to hotel in West L.A. and the food keeps getting better thanks to new chef Allyson Thurber. Her resume (The Lobster, Water Grill) is mighty impressive, and the food her talented kitchen crew turns out is, too. The hotel has gone through some significant kitchen personnel turnover in the past year, and changed its name from Vue to Beachside. On my most recent stay, I enjoyed a couple of really impressive meals here, but the big winner this time was the Ceviche appetizer. The huge bowl of tasty fish was so good, I ordered another and made a really satisfying dinner out of it. I liked it so much that I wandered back into the kitchen to thank Allyson personally. A friendly server named Nichelle brightened up my first dinner, and Evan made me feel right at home at the bar. It's almost impossible to beat the Jamaica Bay Inn's location: right on the sand in Marina Del Rey. I only had a couple of minor complaints: they play the music WAY TOO LOUD on the patio during breakfast, and almost all of the outdoor tables need to be rebalanced because they rock back and forth a bit and tilt a lot when resting your hand on them or lifting cups-glasses-plates on and off them. But that's a pretty trivial issue when you look at the big picture. I've now stayed here three times in the past year, and have already booked another stay there in October. I would ONLY recommend marina view rooms because "city rooms", at least in the two-story wing of the building, look at a parking lot--a heavily traveled road ---and the Marriott that towers above from across the street. It's also nice that the Jamaica Bay Inn now has a discounted rate available in connection with nearby Loyola Marymount University. I'll definitely be back to enjoy the hotel and its wonderfully creative restaurant.

Room Tip: The Marina view rooms are by far the best choice. The city view rooms look at a parking lot and a bu...

Gorgeous room (huge, lovely comfy bed, Philosophy toiletries), fantastic location, either for a transit stop (its 20 mins from LAX) or a holiday. i was visiting frieds, so stayed 12 nights. so much to do in the area (all walking distance, which was great as I dont like being in a car so much), gorgeous weather, great staff, all amenities needed in the hotel (bar, restaurant, room service, pool etc). When can I go back?!

2 tiny negatives (neither important to me), no bath tub, but the shower was enormous & the air con unit is in the room, but ear plugs meant I never heard it...

Room Tip: Ask for beach front, although it is a little more pricey, worth every penny :)

LA was not really a destination for us, more a stopover to recover from a long flight before we flew on to NYC. Jamaica Bay Inn served its purpose in this way-nice rooms that were spacious enough for us and our 2 teens, pleasant surroundings and helpful staff. It was also a quick cab ride to the airport. We had a marina view suite and thought that it was good value compared to similar offerings in Santa Monica. We walked the 15 minutes to Venice and had a nice family dinner at the C&O trattoria, which was excellent for a casual meal. I do have to say that the rollaway bed for our son was pretty terrible, while the sofabed was better. For a short stay I would recommend, but head to Santa Monica if you are planning on being in the area for more than a few days.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our road trip, if you want comfy and clean hotel this is perfect, on arrival the front desk were efficient and friendly. It went down hill from there, not in a drastic way but the efficiency and general "US charm" we were greeted with and what i found during the subsequent hotels was lacking. Not massive things, but the care and attention to detail we came to enjoy was lacking here, had it matched the decor then it would have been a great stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights during our roundtrip. The hotel is very nice. We had a Marine view room with terrace. Rooms were good size, clean, with coffee maker/bathrobes/plenty of towels etc. Front desk was very helpful. We rented bikes one day and biked Venice, Venice beach and santa Monica. We did not eat at the hotel, there were plenty of restaurants for breakfast and diner in Marina del Rey.

Room Tip: Marine view rooms are nicer.
