We came off a cruise ship and planned a couple of days close to LAX as we had a very early flight and selected this reasonably priced hotel. We had disembarked the cruise pretty early and arrived around 10am but a room was provided and the front desk staff were excellent.
We didn't know quite what to expect but the area surrounding the hotel is fantastic. You can walk to Venice and Muscle beach and see the weird and wonderful but also you can walk around the canals and this is a different world. It is quiet and the houses around the canals are quite fantastic. We couldn't believe we were in LA. The hotel provides a good walking map with a number of suggestions. We saw a side of LA that as Brits we didn't expect.
Therefore the hotel was ideally placed to facilitate this experience and yet just 15 minutes from Lax international airport.

Room Tip: Overlooking the Marina which is opposite the hotel

We're always happy to welcome our neighbors from across the pond! It's great that you took advantage of our walking maps and were able to experience the unique beauty of nearby Venice. Thank you for spending your extra days in LA with us, and we hope to see you again some day!

I stayed 5 nights in March, 2013. The lobby and the outdoor seating are great and very relaxing. Mandatory valet parking is a bit pricey and a pain, and in spite of the excellent valet service they sometimes jammed up with traffic coming and going. I had dinner at the bar, and it was well done. The rooms are showing a little age, but are standard Marriott. Stepping out of the shower in the bathroom is an accident waiting to happen on that very slick marble and a long step down. Overall, I'd stay again for sure.

Stayed at the end of March for long weekend. Very nice. Rooms were clean, quiet and great views from all sides. Walking distance to Venice Beach, few miles from Santa Monica Pier.
Great Coffee shops w/i 1 block. Beautiful Lobby. Patrice at front desk was outstanding.

Room Tip: looking west is nice. Sunsets great

My wife and I recently stayed at the Marriott Marina del Rey for 5 nights. Overall the hotel property and lobby area are clean and the staff is very accomodating , The rooms are large, clean and the daily maid services are excellent. The one draw back is there is only one restaurant, which is very good and no gift shop or store to bury snacks or get any incidentals one may need, There are a few restaurants within walking distance which are quite good...for example, the Charter House and Cheese Cake Factory . If it were not for the one restaurant and absence of a gift/sundry store I ould have said this was an excellent hotel and worth the price paid.

We stayed here beginning of March for the weekend. I booked two double rooms for my large family and I specifically requested for joining rooms. When we checked in, there were no rooms available that could accomodate the connecting rooms. The girl at the front desk tried whatever she could to find a solution. ultimately she got us a double room connected to a murphy suite. It sounded fabulous until we actually entered the so called suite. The bed was still in the wall and bedding unmade. There was a huge worn down conference room table and chairs in the middle of the room. Had to use the sofa pull out but there was no bedding on it. The carpet seemed so dirty I felt like things were crawling. The iron was missing and the coffee machine was dripping white residue instead of coffee. The swimming pool was a joke for a Marriott. We were extremely disappointed for the price we paid anf what we actually got. Fancy lobby but rooms were sub par.The only plus was the service from the staff. Other than that it was like an overpriced motel.

Stayed for four nights in January, very nice lobby and bar.

The restaurant had great variety at breakfast and the service was exceptional. Had dinner one night, service wasn't as good but the food was exellent.

The king room was very spacious and clean, enjoyed the patio door that opens with nice view of the marina.

About a 8 minute walk to the pier for great sunsets. Lot's of restaurants within walking distance.(The Killer Shrimp is a must)

The only negative is that you have to pay for WiFi in your room (12.95) when its free in the lobby just about twenty feet up while staying on the second floor over the lobby.

Overall I'ts a great hotel and would return.

Room Tip: The marina side is quieter, away from the main road.

Nice location, great property, love the Marriott brand. Good Happy Hour. They didn't tell me as a Silver Elite that Internet was not complimentary at this hotel. I called to check at the front desk and no one picked up the phone after 5-7 rings. I wouldn't tolerate that level of Guest Service at this type of property if I was the GM. I had a great welcome by the Silver Elite concierge over email. I emailed him/her about this incident when was prompted with the follow-up email post-stay -- absolutely no response back. By the way, got charged for Internet after all. Also addressed it over the phone at at check-out. They do well in the ecosystem when things are going well for a guest, but cannot seem to mitigate guest problems. So hope you don't have any! Mine was minor!
