“Fine, just fine.”

Here for a conference. Internet very poor in the conference area, which was NOT helpful. Rooms fine, very comfy beds. Shower wonderful, towels need work. Despite being a Mariott Rewards member, I was placed in low floor room, with poor view. Lovely outdoor lounge area with heat lamps. Beautiful vista from the top floor, both inside and out on the helicopter pad. Food fine, drinks good. Staff outstanding.

The lobby at this hotel is super nice. There's a nice outdoor area with fire pits.

The rooms were clean, a bit dated, but very clean and nice.

If you are planning on exploring the near by beach area or business trip, this would be a good place to stay.

I may be getting irascible in old age, but I will list the pros and cons of this location and you be the judge.

PROS:
1. Very nice location near the beach, (not walking distance),quiet, comfortable rooms with safes, clean and for the most part a very nice staff, and a better than average workout facility (they call it a health club; it's not)

CONS

1. $28 a day valet parking only, no free internet.

ADDITIONAL ISSUE(S)

First room they gave me, (626) the safe in the room did not work. Moved to room 410 (reluctantly on their part) and safe worked; only complaint with this room was air was noisy but I didn't really need it and turned it off.

SOLUTION(S)

Brought my own MI-FI card so didn't have to pay for internet. As for parking, previous reviewers have commented that their is a pay lot directly across the street for around $10. However, it was being repaved during my stay and was unavailable. However, there is neighborhood parking just behind the hotel, just across Washington Ave. (less than a five minute walk). Parking is free overnight, with street cleaning starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday. I parked there with no problem.

Incidentally, my company would pay the $28 valet fee without batting an eye, but principle and common sense prevailed.

Now that I know I can park for free I would probably stay there again if I was in the area.

Cheers.

Marius

After a decade of crazy kids with no breaks, our kids finally spent a weekend at camp. So we decided to celebrate by treating oursevles to a night at the Marriott. The lobby was beautiful. We were warmly welcomed by Kindall at the front desk who allowed us to check in early so we could maximize our time there. The room was very comfortable and we had a view of the marina. There were nice restaurants within easy walking distance (Cheesecake Factory, Charthouse, etc.). The in-room movie selection included movies that were still in the theater. Nice Touch! Even though we only stayed one night, it felt like a real vacation. Our Thanks to Kindall who made our experience a special one. We highly recommend this Hotel for any purpose, but it is a particularly nice place for Staycation.

Room Tip: The Marina Room View were wonderful, however, the Santa Monica Mountain fews were almost as breathta...

OK so this place is one I stay at frequently for business. The good stuff: lobby, valet, front desk are all pretty good. Close to LAX but away from noise and busy streets.

The not so good: The rooms are adequate but honestly pretty dated and in need of upgrade immediately. Linens are good, not great. Sheets better than the towels.

The views are good if you face the West on an upper level...at this place it really pays to be up high. the funny thing is that they are terribly inconsistent with having your preferred room type - I am elite level Marriott Rewards and seems like they are able to accomodate the king bed high floor request every 5th time, not good at all. More often it is a double bed on a low floor and they make lame excuses at the front desk. Food is very average - roast chicken is a winner, the rest is standard hotel mediocre fare.

Finally there is a stale smell that permeates the entire property and they try and mask it with scent everywhere, only compounding the funk.

This hotel is beautiful. The roof top deck with a 360 degree view of LA is breathtaking. You are right next to the marina, a short walk to the beach and best restaurants. I stay here every time I am in LA. The front desk has upgraded me several times and even given me vouchers for the fantastic buffet brunch. I love this hotel.

Room Tip: The marina view is far better than the city view.

We stayed at the Marriott as part of the AAA Rose Parade Tour. We were very pleased with the appearance, comfort and location...but I would describe the staff as AMAZING. Skip had a sore throat one night and asked for some salt to take to the room. The staff member insisted on sending up herbal tea at no cost. We were always greeted with a smile and friendly words. Our room was very comfortable and clean with a view of the marina. The lobby and bar areas were attractive and inviting with comfortable seating. The hotel was extremely busy during our stay with many parties and events, but the staff continued to deliver service with a personal touch and a smile. A Marriott is a Marriott, but its people made this one special.
