“Quiet and Right on the Beach”
Reviewed June 26, 2011

Well appointed rooms with fake fireplace used as heater, terry robes, big bathroom and the best part is you couldn't be any closer to the beach. Each room gets a golf cart to get around the property, which is fun. Breakfast is a good deal for 10 bucks and is delivered to the room, but it's not cooked (except for hardboiled eggs). The staff is friendly and helpful. The nightly bonfire was fun and you can meet other guests. We brought s'mores which we shared and were a big hit and some folks were sipping their wine. Not too many kids there as the rooms have king beds except for the junior suite which adds a double sofa bed. Good spot for a romantic getaway. Gets cool at night bring something warm! Restaurant on premises is pretty good and you won't have to drive anywhere if you don't want to, but lots of places about 20 minutes away in downtown Monterey. Walmart is half mile away for supplies and it has a supermarket. Free wifi in lobby and rooms.

We just returned from a week's vacation here, and we loved every minute of it. The path down to the beach is right outside your door. From your balcony, you can watch the sun set over the ocean. Also, for those of you who are traveling with kids, this hotel is ideal. In addition to being right next to the ocean, there's also a fantastic little playground and an enormous pool that's just warm enough even on cold days. (The giant hot tub is a plus too!) The restaurant on site has great food, a nice happy hour, and an outdoor area with fire pits and comfy couches with (of course) an ocean view. We'll definitely be back!

We are thrilled that you had a great stay with your family here at the resort. We try to ensure the resort is a great place for travelers all of intents. Our Jr. Suites are large enough to hold a family of 3 or 4 and as you pointed out; the playground, pool, and the beach access make it ideal. Please visit us again and call us directly so our representatives can find the best rate and room for your stay.

My husband & I joined 3 other couples here for 4 days in June to attend a wedding at the Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Course. The location was perfect, 10-15 minutes to everything we wanted to do, but secluded on beautiful rugged beach dunes with views of rolling surf. My recommendations if staying here, include:
1. Bring a jacket. The bluff is windy & weather was mostly cloudy (they call it fog) & cool (60s). We definitely enjoyed the large outdoor jacuzzi (but too cool to sunbathe) & our indoor gas fireplace.
2. This is not a swimmable beach, but a walking beach. The rolling surf is rough & water temps a chilly 58 degrees. Large expanse of windy shoreline good for walking & flying kites.
3. The on-line photos are accurate. The deluxe room spacious enough for 2 only. Get a suite if planning to entertain anyone else.
4. Avoid staying in Rm 617 deluxe, directly behind the ice house, so view from the patio is of the back of a building.
5. Most enjoyable meals were at the Fish Hopper in Monterey, Phil's Seafood & Eatery in Moss Landing, and breakfast at The Cottage in Carmel.
6. Most enjoyable things we did included visiting the Monterey Aquarium (best we've seen, allow 2-3hrs), 17 mile scenic drive to Carmel & walking through the shops downtown, and parking near the Monterey Convention Center and walking the bike path from Fisherman's Wharf to Cannery Row.

My sister and I booked this trip to have a mother/daughter weekend with our mom. We had a fantastic time! Our bellman Kevin was absolutely wonderful. Our room was better then expected and was so nicely appointed. We had told them that there would be 3 of us, so the amenities in the room were for 3. Those types of details are often overlooked. We felt that the resort went above and beyond to make our trip special.

The restaurant was not very good. We had reservations the first night and the manager was not nice to my mom and sister and didn't like that we requested a table on the first floor (our mom uses a walker and this makes her most comfortable). We saw him several times throughout our meal and he was snarling at his staff. Our waitress and the hostess were very nice. The food was just okay. We did let them know that one of the items ordered was cooked poorly and they did remove it from the bill.

I will be back with my husband very soon. We are already looking for dates :)

Room Tip: We were in Suite 605 and it was perfect for 3

This place is amazing! We booked for a three night stay to relax, unwind and enjoy the scenic 17 Mile Drive nearby. We booked a suite which opened out right on to the dunes, which I would highly recommend as each night we were able to sit on our terrace and enjoy the sun setting on the horizon over the sea. After check in, we were escorted to our suite in a golf buggy as cars are not allowed on certain parts of the complex. We were then given our own personal golf buggy for use during our stay. The room was very spacious, with a sleeping area and a lounge area with a fridge and sink. There was also a fireplace which was used to heat the room and we left on during the night as in March it did cool down quite a bit. The bathroom was large and had both a bath and a separate shower. The location is out of town, but there is a restaurant on site and also a Wal-Mart not far away either. To be able to walk right out on to the beach is wonderful, and it is lovely to see work being done towards the dunes being preserved. We would definitely stay here again, it was just what we were looking for.

My husband and I just checked out and let me say "Wow!!". This hotel is beautiful! We arrived a little early for checkin and our room wasn't yet ready. We took a walk along the beach (accessible from the property) and they called us right at our original check in time to let us know the room was ready. When we got to the desk, they advised us that they upgraded our room, as a thank you for our patience! We enjoyed 2 perfect nights with a beach front room, our own personal golf cart to get around the property, beach bonfire sunset viewing, heated pool goodness and luxurious amenities (bath robes, fireplace, Keurig coffee maker, etc.). I would recommend this place to anyone!! It was fantastic!!

My husband & I had a wonderful trip to Marina! The resort was great, the staff was courteous, we had the delux room with the view and use every bit of it. I loved the golf cart! It was a little windy but that didn't stop us from walking the beach & watching parasailers learn to parasail. Only one suggestion, if you don't drink and want more bang for your buck, Marina has a lot of nice restaurants, we found this wonderful Japanese restaurant (forgot the name). One more thing, if you can bring an electric teapot, I'm not a pod coffeemaker fan.
When my husband said we'll be back we'll be back!

Room Tip: Call the hotel first.

I am excited to hear that you had a wonderful time here at the resort with us. I'm also glad to hear that a little wind did not keep you from enjoying the ocean setting. The parasailers are a nice surprise on a windy day and your pictures are evidence of that! The strong winds customary to Marina in the early spring, provide for some of the most beautiful sunsets in the region. We hope that you will come and stay with again sometime.
