“Stranded in Manhattan beach”
Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

Stuck in LA due to weather we stumbled on one of the last rooms available at the Marriott Manhattan Beach. Immediately our evening improved as we were not only welcomed despite not having a reservation but made to feel like VIP's. From the front desk service by Robert to the amazing warmth of the manager Richard who made special arrangements with the head chef for my kids. The chef even came out to check on them after the food arrived. A 3:00 am emergency with one of the kids was met in earnest by staff and in the morning everyone was so helpful at breakfast.this is done odd the best service we have ever received

The Marriott Manhattan Beach was close and convenient to the beach and other locations you would need while in town for a few days. The rooms were clean and employees were very courteous. Parking was easy as they have a dedicated parking structure attached to the building. I would definitely stay here again.

Having stayed at 4 Marriott properties in the last 2 weeks, it's quite easy to compare services, locations & management.

This Manhattan Beach Marriott is wonderfully located on a beautiful properly with a 9 hole executive golf course, cabanas pool, nice lobby & bar area It is a bit dated but clean. The restaurant is only open for breakfast & lunch -- no dinner. Front desk was efficient, but not particularly welcoming or friendly.

The multi level parking garage is dark and crowded. In addition the elevators were not working so you had to walk down the ramp from the upper levels. At $23/night for self service parking this was upsetting

Most disappointing was the concierge lounge. We stopped by before going out to dinner for a drink and the offerings were the most limited we've seen In a CL. It also is quite small, dark and not particularly well kept. this morning's breakfast (8:00 am) confirmed our first impression. i.e., only paper cups (no china) were available for coffee, scrambled eggs were hard & not hot. Very limited selection of food & condiments AND the staff continually talked & laughed loudly to one another in Spanish during the half hour we were there. Also The lounge is locked right after breakfast until 5:30 pm so you can't get coffee or water as at other lounges when you check in

On a positive note the hotel is close to the airport, the room was clean & comfortable (no bathrobe however), & the location near the beaches & good restaurants can't be beat.

Not far from anything! Had a nice room with a balcony facing the golf course... which I HIGHLY recommend. Nothing beats sitting out there every morning relaxing. Not far from beach at all. Had a rental car for this trip so it was nice to have a very safe parking garage with an attendant. Everyone I came in contact with from front desk to bartender were extremely helpful and efficient.

Room Tip: Room facing golf course!

Stay was 10-14 Jan.I am just going to put this out there I am a travel agent and I did not pay full price for this room we stayed in. These are some thoughts I had about this property.

One major problem I had was I drove by the hotel like 3 times because there is NO sign out on the main road. This hotel sits way back off the main road.. The hotel staff is very friendly and we were upgraded to a suite with two separate rooms 2 queen beds with sofa bed with a great view of the golf course.

The room had a huge very clean bathroom however it was a handicap accessible room and every time we used the shower there was water all over the marble bathroom floor (very dangerous). The beds were very comfy and very clean, the sofa bed even had a pretty nice mattress on it as far as sofa beds go..There was a mini fridge and sink in a small bar like area. We had a problem with the batteries in the smoke alarm going off at 2:30am but I called down to the operator to advise her they sent someone right away to take down the alarm as it was the middle of the night. The guy who came up did NOT bring a ladder or extra battery!! They knew what was up when I called down there because I told them..but yet they sent him up totally unprepared! NOT cool..

The hotel is rather large has a nice gift shop, very nice bar and lounging area in the lobby. The restaurant was nice but I never did see to many people in it. That could have been because the cost of the food at this hotel was ridiculously expensive I know this because the day we arrived being unfamiliar with the area we at at the hotel for lunch. I really do feel the food is WAY over priced, it was good but NOT that good.
This hotel has a nice small gym and the equipment is up to date and looked pretty new however they were doing a bit of work on the floor in one corner of the gym, the pool are is nice and looked very clean.
Now the hotel does offer parking and it is NOT free which I feel is just so wrong. I did a self park and they charge $21 a night for that. The parking garage is attached to the hotel however the door connecting the two was blocked every day we were there because there was some kind of updates going on. NO ONE should pay to park at a any hotel when hotels charge way to much for the rooms.
You also have to pay for wifi in the rooms however in the lobby area it is free. This to is wrong I feel for the price of the rooms it should be included $12.95 day. The 7th floor is the Concierge floor and believe it or not you will pay nicely for a room up on that floor but the lounge is NOT included that also cost extra so be careful with that. Once again this is something that should be included with those rooms up there.

This hotel is very conveniently located to the 405 which really will take you everywhere from Redondo Beach all the way up to Malibu via the connecting 10 freeway. The main road right there at the hotel has pretty much everything on it, fast foods, chain restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations you get the idea. The town of Manhattan Beach is a very nice little beach town great shops, food and very nice beach.

Over all my sons and I enjoyed our stay there and the very best thing about this hotel is the location! It is just far enough from downtown LA to be good, if you know what I mean. lol
OH and by the way GET A SIGN out on that road!!

Room Tip: The view on the back side of the hotel are quiet and have pretty good views if your up high. Ask...

I keep coming back to this hotel and have just booked it again. I have in the past found the staff very pleasant and helpful. Sometimes the place is full of conference-goers but it's big enough in the lobby and restaurants to not feel crowded. The rooms have been clean and quiet. I don't tend to eat there as there are so many choices nearby. I have biked to the beach but not walked.
