“Friendly & fabulous”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Recently stayed at The Belamar for 3 nights. The staff were incredibly friendly and always helpful. The rooms were clean comfortable and all we expected. It is in a great location and only a 5 min walk from the manhattan village shopping centre and 15 min walk to Manhattan Beach. Planning our next trip to the US and will definitely stay thee again. Highly recommended.

The minute our taxi pulled up, we felt like we were in for a glam experience... Smart valets cheerfully greeting us, complimentary fruit-infused chilled water and such modern funky decor in the foyer, the whole vibe was fresh, clean and contemporary. Our good impressions continued up to the second floor where our room was stunningly spacious with lovely soft new carpet and enormous comfy bed. Down in the outside courtyard/pool area, we were wowed by the luxurious day beds and inviting blue-tiled swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Although located in the manhattan beach zone, you'll be disappointed if you're visualizing a beach holiday at your doorstep, as the hotel is still a healthy half hour walk from the coast. While the belamar does offer bikes, expect to pay up to $20 / day, a fee which i think is unnecessary, considering other hotels offer this service for free.

Across the road is a big shopping complex with a variety of eateries, although if you're up for a snazzy restaurant experience, you may as well dine at the hotel restaurant offering high quality dishes and a good selection of wines.

All up our stay was highly enjoyable and a lovely treat.

Lets start with the fruit infused water, different flavor each day, on a hot day like the day I was there, it was heaven sent! O and how can you forget the ding dongs at the check in desk! The staff was very friendly and had fabulous suggestions on where to enjoy an unforgettable meal. BUT best of all was there room service breakfast, I highly suggest the waffle and coffee. I cannot put in too words the quality of food and obvious care they take in making it. Cannot wait to stay again!

Room Tip: Balcony on the third floor.

This is a great hotel if you don't want to stay at the run-down hotels on Century Blvd. right next to LAX and you want to stay at a nice3 boutique hotel a few miles away. It's located in a great Beach town however it is quite far from the actual beach and restaurants. Nevertheless, the rooms are always clean, Second Story restaurant has pretty darn good food, valet parking is only $10, and the Philosophy brand toiletries are great. My favorite part of the stay is always the home made Ho-Hos they offer upon check-in. The only big negative is that the walls are very thin. I was on the second floor and I could hear everything going on above me, even people just walking around in their room. Overall I will continue to stay at the Belamar. Beats airport hotels anytime.

CMB-BOB,

Thank you for staying at the Belamar Hotel. We know you have many choices in the area and I am glad you had an enjoyable stay with us as we strive to provide the highest level of service and quality. Also, the next time you are in the area and stay with us, I invite you to use one of our bikes that we have available for a small fee. It's a great way to enjoy the short ride to the beach. Thanks again for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you again!

This hotel is really a nice place to stay in the South Bay. The rooms are always clean, the staff friendly and the grounds in great condition. We understand that they recently had a ownership change, but everything was just as good if not better than before. Upon checkin we received a smores kit for an outdoor event that evening. Overall a nice place, ready to go back.

Funky hotel mid-way between LAX and Manhattan Beach. Rooms are to a high standard, with comfortable beds, decent A/C and modern/retro fit outs. Breakfast package is worth the extra $$ - the two guys who run the breakfast service in the restaurant are fantastic, and provide awesome service. It is about a 1.5 mile walk to Manhattan Beach itself, but this is down a designated pedestrian track rather than a sidewalk, and is pleasant. There is also a large mall approx two blocks' walk from the hotel, including CVS, Ralph's and Macy's, which is handy for the essentials. Hotel does appear very strict when it comes to their 3pm check-in - something to keep in mind if you'll be arriving on a morning flight like I was.

Room Tip: If you are taking/renting a vehicle, get a valet-included package, as there is no self-park option.

My family had a reunion in L.A. last week. We flew into L.A. from all over. We had decided to stay at the Belamar because of its proximity to Manhattan beach and also great shopping and food. We wanted to be near one of our family members nearby in Redondo Beach so it was really very convenient for us.

The first moment we drove up to the Belamar, I found my stress levels (triggered by crowds at LAX and car rental delays) going down. Poi in the pond, parking attendants with a smile and a chill attitude, a beautiful outdoor pool and jacuzzi area, the outdoor spaces felt like a warm hug from a new friend.

Walking into the foyer and front desk area was like walking into the light. It is beautifully appointed (redecorated 3 years ago) in a vintage '60s design with some authentic pieces of furniture like the Eames chair, ottoman and walnut side table. All I could say was, "Wow, I feel like I just stepped into the Dick Van Dyke Show, only better!" The colors and style are simply stunning.

The hotel's restaurant, Second Story, is worth staying in for. It has been voted the number one restaurant in Manhattan beach for several years in a row and I can see why. Beautiful space to eat in, delicious food and what could be more convenient than walking to your dining room? Props to Vania Almeida, the executive chef for food that kept us coming back for more!

This boutique hotel gets a 9 out of 10 rating from me. The only problem I had with my stay was the noise of the road outside our window. I asked for a room overlooking the pool and courtyard area but was told that the rooms with two beds (there were three of us staying in our room) were all overlooking Sepulveda Blvd/Pacific Coast Highway. It was a tad noisy for me since my family members wanted to sleep with the windows open.

I loved the Belamar and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Definitely choose one overlooking the courtyard if you want more quiet.
