I found this gem back in the early 90's. Loved the hole in the wall Mexi restaurant with a locals beach vibe. Ordered the Super Deluxe burrito and an orange bang. The late night hours are great and price was reasonable. My wife loved it too. It's a must visit any time we're in SoCal.

There's nothing better than a hole-in-the-wall dive with FABULOUS food. Head for the El Tarasco in Manhattan Beach on Rosecrans Avenue (there are several, but go to this one). It is TEENY, with one long bar and that's it! If it is nice weather, they also have an outdoor patio in the back that is actually very nice, but rustic (I'm talking picnic tables and that's pretty much it). If you love good Mexican food, then you MUST go here. We have friends who visit us from Pennsylvania each year, and they actually order to go and take back burritos on the plane to deliver to their kids! This is NOT a fancy restaurant; there are no tables...just that famous bar. There's no room for anything else. Again, I'm talking about the Manhattan Beach one on Rosecrans.
The chips come right out of the oven and are hot (temperature). The burritos are fabulous, and filled to the brim with either chicken or ground beef and plenty of rice and beans. However, the menu is large, so keep going back and try everything! Price? CHEAP! They are open late, so it's great to go after hitting the local clubs. The place is wonderful and a real Manhattan Beach landmark known all around the country.

SoCal has alot of Mexican restaurants and for me, the best Mexican is found in dives. El Tarasco is the best of them all! No tables. Just a counter, soccer blaring on the TV and a wall to lean your surfboard against. The food is great. The service is fast, no B.S. And the prices can't be beat. Try it and find out why Manhattan Beach locals have loved El Tarasco for many many years.

If you like taco's, this is the place to go. They are open late and the food is very tasty. I think I went three times in the 3 days I was there.
